animation pack sounds interesting...what it does?
Animation pack allows you to import animated contend from Max for example for rigid animations. It also allows you to import vertex animations trough the PointOven format.
We also intend to expand the animation features with things like more key frames and better timing but this is not certain yet.
-
Are lights still planned for update 2?
-
Lights will not be finished for update 2.
-
Yeah, unfortuneately I read the bad news in the development section just after posting the first time. ::)
-
We will show some pictures here when we have them. We do have the technology ready it is just that we need to change the lumion engine to work with it. There are always some pitfalls there.
-
Hi Lumion team
Congratulations about the forward in your work and efforts. It will be a great new for users and bad news for competitive when Lumion's Update 2 will be put on the market.
I'll looking at their dumb faces while mine will be smiling and shinning.
Thanks for all
-
Looks good, Lumion-Team!!! Hope, you saw the real sun sometimes in the last weeks. I´m curious like my kids on Easter-Morning for playing around with it.
Welldone!
-
I hope all those plugin features are not too expensive althought I could understand if they are and I'm a big plugin based tool fan.
-
Hi everyone;
I want to ask a question to you:
I want to buy this product (699 Euro) now. But the question is when I send you the money what will happen?
You will give me the Lumion now and update it in Spring term later??
-
Simple: When you buy now you get Lumion 1.0 SP1 and when SP2 is available you will be able to download this version free. Please note that some of the new features will be available as plug-ins so you'll have to buy the plug-in separately. Our plan is to keep plug-in prices low though and make sure they add a lot of functionality and content. We do not want to get a situation where you have to buy millions of small plug-ins.
-
Sorry what type of plugins are?
Very nice update 2.
-
Looks awesome!
I'm specially intersted in the animations.
Is it possible than to match camera's from 3ds max and lumion?
(Camera position and movings to 3ds Max)
I'm thinking of compositing.
When camera position and settings are the same in both programs you can compositing more complex animations.
When also basic geometry goes from lumion to max, you can match shadows, reflection with the matte/shadow/reflection material. and composite all stuff together.
Its just a idea...
-
We do not want to get a situation where you have to buy millions of small plug-ins.
I'm looking forward to the new water!!!!
If the plug-ins are all this effective....millions would be good. :-9
Can you give me a timeframe on the water....I have a few customers with mouths open.
Will it come with 2 and if so, when....or did I miss something?
Cheers!
-
We hope to release update 2 (not version 2 of Lumion) in may. But we have a lot of work to do so lets hope we make that month.
-
Thanks ....now I'm confused?..release 2, version 2? Don't bother to clarify Ferry...you are busy making the may deadline for us. I'm sure with a little reading I'll figure it out....cheers!..goodluck!
-
We choose to name updates to Lumion updates.
So instead of Lumion 1.1 and Lumion 1.2 you have Lumion + Update 1
Later you would get Lumion 2 + Update 1 etc
We can maybe rename the update to service pack or something to avoid confusion.
-
I also think common naming conventions like 1.1, 1.2 are more suitable.
Service Pack naming is also nice and reducing confusion.
-
The problem with 1.1 and 1.2 is that with Quest3D people expect a 1.1 then 1.2 then 1.3 then 1.4 then 1.5 and then maybe 2.0
We have went from 1.2 to 2.0 in the past and then the whole forum was mad. This is nonsense of course since it is just a naming convention. But we can't change how people feel about names. Nobody finds it strange that Vista only has a SP1 or a SP2 and not a SP5. So we will do the same with Lumion. You get service packs or updates as many as we could create in the update time and before we start work on the new version.
-
Why don't you call it Lumion 1.0 SP1 or SP2 then, this is comon known from the microsoft patchs.
I guess Update 2 sounds to much Lumion 2, thats confusing for people currently thinking about buying it.
-
SP2 is indeed better.
-
With the new particle system I will be able to create vapor?
I have to create an architectural space surrounded by steam:
http://bwog.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/1.jpg (http://bwog.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/1.jpg)
It will be possible?
-
hummmmm
I guess yes, it would be possible, 'cause it seems it could be customizable to control the size and density of those particles.
-
Hi.. I saw in the new update that will be a fountain ,,when that will be available ,,I really need that thanks
-
We are trying to release in may.
-
Please in our company need to know when we update 2, because we have some work to complete. Please could you be more specific with the date
the presentation. Sorry for the impatience and congratulations on the program that is giving us so much satisfaction. A hug
-
The final date does not depend on what we know up front it is going to be. It depends on when we finish the work. There is no date. We hope to release in may. I am sure some people might help you to get a bit better fountain already.
-
I will purchase Lumion today but I have a question. Will I start to use lumion as soon as after payment?
I asked this because you say that
"After payment confirmation you will receive access to the Lumion installer download and access to our network license server.
Right after purchase Lumion will be shipped to you which includes a hardware key. This key will enable you to use Lumion without our license server."
-
Hi,
You will be able to use it right after the order... just the time to download and install it ;)
( yesterday i used lumion one hour after the order)
bye
-
thank you for your reply. regards.
-
Is gonna be possible to download the demo version with the update 2?
-
I'm also waiting very impatiently for a first Beta or so. Have a deadline at 19th and it would be great to have the new tone-mapping in this movie/shots.
-
Please don't plan our releases with your deadlines. If we find a big problem last moment we don't want to have everyones stress added to that for deadlines!
-
Hehe no. I'm of course not planing with your development. I just have the (small) hope that the Lumion-R2 Preview version will be available before 19th. :)
There is no gurantee or anything for this of course. And I won't get unhappy if it comes in June or so too.
-
What's the status on "creating an exe email file" for client viewing? Will it be available in Update/SP 2?
Thanks in advance,
Jershaun
-
We did start work on the exe but it won't be part of update 2.
-
Who will be the first to get a 1,000,000 hits using a Lumion video?
:D :-D ::) :-o
-
We hope to release update 2 (not version 2 of Lumion) in may. But we have a lot of work to do so lets hope we make that month.
May has gone...
-
Patience...they will release when it is stable. No one would want an early release with all kids of issues, there would be many people talking about how "i can't believe they released this will all of these issues".
-
Please bear in mind that this is a HUGE update. We'll have several cool plug-ins too. The basic functionality is expanded with many things and we have a complete new web system and online user profiles.
The new version will use an online profile for the activation instead of the dongle. If you purchased Lumion we will send you a key in the coming days which you need to download the update. This key will allow you to upgrade your online account and unlock download options. It will also allow you to expand your Lumion with plug-ins. When you activate Lumion with your online login/pass it is linked to your computer and it will fail to activate on other computers until your deactivate it of course. It's a great solution because you do not have to bring your dongle from work to home for example as long as you remember to deactivate at work.
So please be patient it will arrive shortly.
-
Does this mean the update is ready, but we are just waiting on the keys?
-
wont the new system without the dongle open all gates to piracy? I don't know but maybe the dongle is more secure and harder to crack? I don't mind the dongle plugged in my PC.
can you give us an ETA to the upgrade?
-
I like the dongle too. I don't mind it at all. Back in the day a lot of software companies used these dongles. I like knowing that I paid for this program and have a right to use it. I would hate to see you guys lose money due to piracy.
And you know that as soon as someone does some reverse engineering on your new key/serial system, you would get thousands of illegitimate users signing up on this forum posting redundant topics, asking questions, and getting undeserved help.
-
usb Dongle is good.
Don't mind it.
-
Whatever works best for y'all.
Unfortunately no matter how great you make the mouse trap, the mice get wiser.
-
Oh yes. As a forum admin, I can also tell that there are people who share things like that (continuous banning when learning about it).
:-r
I've even seen full forums specialized on this (if any Lumion staff member wants a link, I can PM but certainly will not post in public).
-
I dont have a problem buying a prog, but i change hardware and computer very often and I damn hate all the programs with internet activation, cause they always tell you ur license has already been used and U have to write emails why you have to reinstall, this may not be a big problem with one prog, but the software companies we use, changed all to internet activation and I have to activate around 20 progs on my computer. When we reinstall or upgrade the office, i have to activate about 100 progs and that realy sucks...
Why should people stop working with cracked software, if working with it is much more comfortable then working with the legal one?...
-
Hi Thomas
I'm agree with your post. We use many programs and also is usual the hardware's change and what it means... a lot of time activating via email and justify why we opt to change the hardware.
I'm only afraid with the possiblity of loosing the dongle, I fly into several countries and take with me the dongle, always I'm afraid it in one of theses trips someone stole me or loose the it.
-
By the way; what happens if someone loses the dongle? Or it is stolen? Or destroyed (say) in a fire or car accident or anything? Or stops working due to some severe hardware crash (when my machine gets thunderstruck)?
It is very handy as a real "floating license" (if I am using the term correctly) but on the other hand, it is also risky. A "normal" license key is less comfortable when you want to work on different computers but as a "virtual" license, it is also indestructible.
-
Very true.
Often wondered what would happen if I accidentally broke the dongle - tuff luck?
Would not be the first USB device I broke toting it from one place to the other.
-
this is something to ask for Lumion team
-
If the dongle is broken; then you can ask a new one, if you can send the broken one back ofcourse...
-
I haven't heard any real complaints about the dongle authorization system in place now. I doubt trying to move into online license server activation is about adding another level of security against piracy or convenience, as it is about connecting the user base to the online "store".
As my studio rig is offline, it sounds like it's going to be a real hoop jump to upgrade and (begrudgingly) buy the plugins I need.
Honestly, it seems the dongle method has done a good job of keeping Lumion piracy at bay. With the new authorization system, I'd give it a week before it's cracked an all over the web for free and every unscrupulous joker will be putting out lumion renders, thus tremendously lowering the market value for the program by the user base who has paid for the development to date. I don't tend to worry as much about other programs I own, like 3ds Max, to be cracked and distributed, as they are complex programs and 95% of the people who pirate them will never put in the hundreds of hours required to learn them and put out high quality work. Lumion is a different story. It's so easy to use that it's quite easy to see the market flooded with lumion animations made on cracked versions, which will reduce the novelty and appeal in the marketplace for legitimate users. As developers, your only protection of your user bases investment is on the front end security. I think we are just worried about the new online methods looking out for the best interest of you the developer, as opposed to us the consumer. Just saying.
-
The dongle protection isn't harder to crack than the new system. The main system is very forgiving if you format your drive and you re-install your program will be autoactivated.
We don't change from dongle to this to have more security but to enable extra features for us and lessen the burden of the education edition. The dongle costs us 35 euro PER dongle and that makes it impossible to create a cheap student version.
The new system just needs you to be online once. Then it will stay active. If you do have an internet connection it will check at startup though. But if it fails it will still work if it worked before.
If you break the dongle you get a new one but if you loose it then you loose Lumion! We don't like this system because of that reason. And the fact the current dongle installs a JAVA client also is a big disadvantage.
We know protection is always a burden. Remember that we are not protecting agains chinese students who can spend all there time cracking our software. The protection is so that legitimate companies have a solid license program. In the past with Quest3D we had a key that just activated. Many legit companies just installed that key everywhere. then asking us how many licenses they have. So the main goal for our system is to enable you to use Lumion how we intend without to much burden on that protection.
For most the new system is better but probably not for all. I hope you can still forgive this annoying problem.
-
i want to be a Licensed user ihave the full version of lumion 1 and i want to be able to download the updates
-
Hi, you can send me a pm with your license code or you can wait for SP2. SP2 is just around the corner and you should receive a code by email shortly which allows you to download and activate Service Pack 2. The licensed status and download section will be replaced by a new website section which displays all the files you can download, a new profile and some plug-ins you can add to Lumion. If everything goes well the release will be this week. We already have a test build which just has to go trough some final checks.
-
Woot Woot. You da man Remko!
-
Awesome news Remko...we are excited!!!
-
Great news...
Thx for the effort...
Congratulations to the Lumion Staff
Fábio
-
This is very good news.
-
I also want to thank the whole team Lumion exfuerzo and dediicacion done so far. I know that you are making many sacrifices to put the line SP2. Although I predicted a great success and compensation vustra delivery.
¡¡¡¡¡ THANKS AGAIN !!!!.
-
Great!!!
-
Thank you the Lumion Staff ! You have all of our support :)
-
Thank you very much.
It's great!
-
Hello everyone;
I am using Lumion for one mounth and I appreciate you very much but I have a great problem about prices.
I think that the price ( 150 Euro for each plugin ) is too much. Probably you are planing to sell every additions as a pluging. I agree that this plugin options is very good but I still think that the price is too much.
The second problem is that there is not any information about plugins and I am wondering if I bought Special effects plugins and when you release Lumion Update 3 what will happen? Would I have to bought it again for Update 3?
I thought that this is a selling strategy. Because if you have tried to sell Lumion with these plugins with the coast of for example 1500 Euro you will not achieve to sell it too much.
-
Hi all,
I am in complete agreement! i think i am missing something. Firstly i want to add that Lumion is a revolution, however this update is a huge disappointment to me. I will explain why.
Firstly, as an architect using this product i care far less about smoke/one million different types of tree/and all these querky add-ons which are fun, and a whole lot more about the technical aspects which need improving. For instance, why do all interior shots make the ceiling grey/black? Interior lighting to express atmoshere at night/no sunlight conditions. Perhaps architectural views and perspectives could have been added and many more.
Secondly, i feel these modifications are a rouse to tweak extra money from lumions customers, which is fine as were not obligated to purchase them, but its not fine when it limits the progression of the product. Am i going to have to wait years until interior lighting is added......while im seeing flying planes, space ships etc. Afterall the front page of the website is all about architects!
Dont get me wrong, the DOF looks impressive as well as the smoke, but this is a money exploiting sidetrack to the primary functionality of Lumion. I hope this doesnt effect the prosperity of the product.
I have been waiting eagerly for this update, and cant help but feel disappointed as no real adaptations are evident in the use of the basic programe.
-
And to top it off, the tree plugin doesnt work. It won't place any of the new trees. Has anyone got any help....am i being dumb?
-
Don't worry, there's no evil conspiracy to squeeze out every last penny of you ;)
New features cost money to develop, this is the case for every software developer, and you should only buy plugin Packs if you need them and if you can make money with them.
Our customers have got different needs. Some might need the 166 new trees/plants in the Trees & Plant Pack if their main focus is on garden design, others make offshore windfarm visualisations and will need the ocean shader to simulate rough weather in the North Sea. Having separate plugins gives you, the customer, freedom to pick and choose depending on your individual needs.
As a Lumion Basic user, you have the opportunity to "partly" upgrade so to speak, since all existing license holders get one plugin Pack for free. Also bear in mind that there will be a range of ways to earn credits by helping us out, so that upgrading will be more affordable for our most helpful users.
Regarding lighting, it's not an either/or situation. We *will* do our very best to introduce articial lights, night lighting, sun position based on longitude/latitude etc. I personally also think we need to upgrade the sky colour system to make it look more realistic at sunset. The reason this hasn't been done yet is that all these features are closely connected and require a significant amount of work. But this doesn't mean it's not a priority at all - but it will take time before we get this right.
EDIT: Arthur is looking into the tree problem at the moment - apologies for this.
-
Granted! I understand there are alternative requirements within industries. However on scale I imagine you’ll find there to be far more interior designers, architects, landscape architects (granted) than wind farm designers.
I am happy to pay for what i require. I feel its a shame that more items were not added as a good gesture such as buildings/pets etc. I think Lumion is a fantastic purchase of which I have not regretted, however I feel my point stands on what should take priority. As an end user the consideration of my and other comments in your forum should defiantly hold credit should Lumion be taken as far as I imagine you want it to.
Can I please have some technical help. I can’t place any of the new trees. Also I would like some help as to why my interior ceilings come out grey when they are the same material as the walls. I would really appreciate it.
I look forward to see the progression of lumion and appreciate the hard work put into it.
Thanks Morten for you help.
-
I understand what you mean. From our perspective, it's not always easy to prioritise our efforts, since we need to expand our customer base to justify investments, not only by improving the core features for architects but also by adding completely new features that other customer segments may find useful.
Regarding the ceiling issue, the way it currently works is that objects are lit with an irradiance map based on the current sky settings. Unfortunately, we did not get round to fixing the lighting that causes the ceiling issue in this update but it obviously needs to be addressed (I had the same problem while working on the "Alpine Dwelling" demo scene). For the time being, the only workaround is to add a "Standard" material to the ceiling object and increase the "Brightness"/"Emissiveness" sliders.
The tree problem doesn't sound good. I'm currently downloading SP1 32-bit to test this myself.
-
I'll try that thanks :)
Sorry, why are you downloading SP1 32 bit?. The error seems to be with the new SP2 64 bit :-\
-
Sorry, why are you downloading SP1 32 bit?. The error seems to be with the new SP2 64 bit :-\
Arthur will upload a new version of the 64-bit version today, so the link to that version is no longer available (I'm personally using an internal 32-bit version from Wednesday, and since I'm based in the UK I have to download the final 32-bit version from the customer area like everyone else :) ).
Is anyone else having trouble adding the plugin Pack trees to their scenes?
-
Thanks, hopefully it will work. If you can inform us when its done that would be great.
-
Will do that, Andrew.
-
Odd, the Trees and Plants plugin Pack seems to work fine here (I've now installed the official Lumion 1 SP2 32-bit version). Adding the new trees to the Alpine Dwelling scene is not a problem.
I've tested this with my developer account as well as a regular account, just like yours. Once Arthur has prepared the fixed 64-bit version, I'll download it and carry out the same test. Stay tuned for more info.
-
I'm also downloading the 32 bit version at moment, ideally I'd download the 64 bit version but heard there may be an issue, can you let us know when the new fixed version is live?
-
Absolutely, Arthur will let you guys know. Sounds like the 32-bit version is the one to stick with right now.
-
It turns out that The DLLs for SpeedTree need to be recompiled for the 64-bit version. Arthur is on the case and a new version will be ready later.
The 32-bit version is indeed working fine.
Apologies for the inconvenience while we get this problem sorted.
-
Thanks guys :) thats some good teamwork.
-
64 bit doesn't work...stack errors are showing on your web page...it is not possible to download your new code from my location....wasted a bit of time on this!!
Just going to drop Lumion in the trash bucket for a while....let me know when you get your act together.
-
Bruce (modelhead?) download the 32 bit version for now and as soon as 64 is fixed get that.
Don't give up mate.
-
32 bit is not available either....I have put in enough time on it....time is money you know....I'll try and fire it up in July...twin motion...vue...will do for my next assignment and I'm not likely to look up again till then so the timing works for me.....cheers solo!!
edit: sound like a spoiled brat don't I?
-
Hi Bruce
Twinmotion, Vue or Bryce are good programs also, but not so friendly as Lumion.
We use all these programs and opted for using Lumion as main rendering/animation one for show our work to clients.
Maybe Lumion must to change and growth in a soon future, but for today I guess is the most friendly software to show architectural concepts in a very short time.
Also there is a great forum od Lumion users and staff whom support oneselve when need to solve an issue or spreading tips or tricks.
Surely you need a little patience, as we all, for get a much more better sofware.
-
Offering software that is not available to all (even when thay have paid up) is just bad business.
-
@ bruce, test 32bit download werk perfect, estimate download time 20min, so, please do check for any blocking on your side
-
@Bruce: If you can't see the download links, there may be a glitch in the permissions of your user account. I understand how disappointing it must feel not to be able to access the download links, and that you feel a need to vent your frustration, especially if you have an assignment that you were hoping to work on this weekend.
Unfortunately, Arthur has escaped from his cage, so he can't check your account until Monday, but I've sent him an email so he can deal with this problem as soon as possible.
Once again, apologies for the inconvenience this has caused you.
Is anyone else having problems downloading Lumion 1 SP2 32-bit?
-
@Bruce: Could I also ask you to look at the attached screenshot and let me know if the Customer Area webpage is displayed more or less like this at your end? Are the download links simply missing or are you getting php(?) errors as well? If so, can you post a screenshot of what you're seeing? Which browser version are you using?
-
@Bruce: Could you please also check "My Messages" - I've just PM'd you.
-
Hey Morten...Sorry for being such a groutch....and thanks for making such an effort. I gave it another try and it did work finally.....I traced my route back to your server and found that it was pinging very slow...The early frustration was as a result of a 3 hour download that just halted and hung...after about 4 previous tries I was starting to pull hair. I have not loaded the new version but will soon. I want to again apologize for yes, venting. I can see that this product could become very entrenched in my workflow and this type of thing makes me worry. If I have iterations of my clients in progress work tied up in Lumion and it fails it could put me in hot water.
The fact is I have never used a product that fits my on going work-flow so well...saving, reopening versions, creating key shots, clips and sewing it all together is so easy. It is all very intuitive so taking it deep into my client work is attractive but it has to hang together for me or I will disappoint some people.
Your efforts here are much appreciated and I am certainly an advocate.
Cheers
Bruce
-
No worries, these things tend to get to all of us once in a while :) Your previous posts over the past few months are a testament to how supportive you've been of our work - this is not easily forgotten.
I'm based in the UK, and up until SP2 was released I relied 100% on a floating license (i.e. no physical USB dongle). I can assure you there have been swear words at my end when I had something time-critical to test and the floating license suddenly stopped working! :-D
Fortunately, with the release of Service Pack 2, you'll only need to log in once to activate Lumion. Once you've done that, you won't need an internet connection again.
Anyway, it's a good sign that you're able to ping our server - I can highly recommend "Free Download Manager" - it can resume downloads that stall halfway through. Don't hesitate to drop me a line at morten [at] quest3d.com if there's anything else I can do at my end to help you get that installer.
-
../....
Your efforts here are much appreciated and I am certainly an advocate.
Cheers
Bruce
Hi Bruce this is what I said you before... Lumion's team are always beside users to support us...
great hearing you can test Lumion SP2 now, sure you'll enjoy as all of us
regards
-
Downloaded the Lumion update 2 64 bit installer and installed the program, but it would not start on my OS
(Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit)javascript:void(0);
I understand there have been some problems with this release.
Any idea when it will be fixed and back in the list for downloading?
-
Hi Bab, did you already read this post:
http://lumion3d.com/forum/index.php?topic=1232.0 (http://lumion3d.com/forum/index.php?topic=1232.0)
-
Hi All,
Yes my the lumion team do really put themselves out! I can say that my sp2 64-bit is poping up with error messages. I understand however that an updated one will be released tomorrow or very soon so ill wait until then.
-
we are not protecting agains chinese students who can spend all there time cracking our software.
Dear Ferry, please do not broadcast your personal opinion about Chinese students. I don't think all students in China would have such ability and luxury of time to crack your precious well secured software.
Besides, can you guaranteed that student in Europe doesn't have the ability do that? May I ask who invited Napster and priate bay and iPhone Jailbreak?
This is an international forum, could you be more sensitive about what you post? Please show some respect to people who reads your messages.
If I were you I'd refrain from such words, you know what I'm talking about.
Thanks
-
I don't think he meant to single out Chinese students, i.e. implying that only they are able to and have enough time to crack software. It was just an example.
If you interpret it that way, please accept our apologies - it was obviously never his intention to try to provoke anyone with that remark.
-
I think there have been enough apologies now, Nicolás.
I'm sure no provocation was intended.
If you would like to pursue this further, please contact me via email or PM me via the forum messaging system.
I'd be grateful if you could stay on topic from now on.
Thanks! :)
-
Ok
-
Dear Morten,
I am not acusing anyone here and I agree with you that Mr Ferry didn't want his word to be mis-interpretted. Apology is not demanded from anyone, but just to remind everyone that we are living in a multicultualral post computer age. Your messages can be spread instantly around the globe. Anything goes out publicly in black and white ink should be more considerable and sensitive especially if the message can be viewed by mass audiences and it is coming from one of the officials of Lumion. Your meaning can go many ways and have effect on people's mind.
Dont get me wrong, you have my full support for your freedom of speech as much as you do for me. Let's just be more sensitive next time and end the topic here.
-
You're absolutely right, John.
I think most of us have seen these situations erupt from time to time in other forums too. It's often difficult to be sure if someone is joking or just being sarcastic/ironic, and in our case we've just had a very heated debate about the future of Lumion, so I totally understand that we're all a little on edge at the moment.
Research has actually shown that the number of conflicts in the workplace can be greatly reduced if people simply sit down and tell each other more about themselves.
I'm not saying that we all just need to hold hands, form a circle and sing around the bonfire together and all the concerns you have regarding the future of Lumion will disappear as if by magic :+
But knowing more about each other has the potential to foster feelings of solidarity and respect for each other. I'd rather listen to the soft-spoken guy in the corner who looks you straight in the eye and tells you what's on his mind than to a guy who is shouting so loudly that you can barely hear what he's trying to say.
I've had the privilege to get to know some of you quite well over the past few months, and all I can say is that we're incredibly fortunate that you guys have chosen Lumion. Things could have gone very differently if you hadn't. It takes guts to put all your faith in a completely new product.
I hope that the new features show that we actually do listen to you. Sure, we don't have the manpower to grant every request but this is at least a start.

Normally I would not have thought about his remark in a negative way but I can see how it might read if you are from China. It's not really relevant where the creator of a crack is from. We see cracks from all countries.
I think he was referring to a specific example from the past and not a generalization about students, Chinese people or a combination of both. I hope the previous posts and this one were able to take away any suspicion of bad intent.
