That video is simply stunning. Just gorgeous. Superb and Wow. Good luck for whomever is going up against them in the CG architect awards. Only used 3dsMax for that? hehe. uhhhhh huh. uh huh :-X
You can make textures in 3dsMax?
-
Must have been modeled in 3DSmax but its rendered in Sm Real Time engines, like Cry Engine, UDK Or Frostbite.

Spent quite a bit of time looking thru different videos, linked sites, ect. My guess is this is from 3dsmax or lightwave. LW has some amazing stuff out there and its years in front of 3dsmax in my own opinion.
We had a client in the office that suggested that some of the stuff we have been doing was needing to be more "life like". Some of the stuff that Lumion does is great due to the time involved but using vray, 3ds, or lightwave and you have a month and a farm its hard to compete.
That's where the conversation ended and I felt kind of misinformed in what the client was really wanting me to say. We include our animations and have set timelines to model and animate, this kind of stuff is teams of people and just can not meet our budget or timeframe.
If someone has a better answer then please chime in.

The problem is always the bar gets lifted. People see lots of amazing things via TV, YouTube etc, and just assume things about how, and how much it costs, and what is involved.
Easy to say, hard to get message over, but: "and what would you like for your minimum $100k budget, with immediate draft concept escalation to base of $150k?" :-D
-
That movie easily cost a cool $100,000 in man/woman power.

hi all not sure if this is a better answer or not, we do a lot of turnkey construction work and the story is always the same, this is how the client sees their home and then they tell you they are on a budget. why any different for cg, the video above was after all made one afternoon while two architects were having a beer :-D

That's sick Shawn...
I think it comes down to how clean / realistic the rendering comes thru. Lumion at times looks like a video game on my ps3 and sometimes a but better. I am burning my first 3 star in 3.2 tonight so I am excited to see the results in the morning.
I will say that 3.2 seems different than 3.1.2 as far as the build mode is concerned. It seems brighter and the shadows are darker and very defined. It may be just me and as I work thru my next project I will take notes. I did notice a dropped model when I opened a project in 3.2
Any way there is a section for this discussion.
For the time I get to work thru these projects my peers are happy of the results
