Title: Roads on rolling landscape
Post by: bottedepaille on March 22, 2013, 09:45:29 pm
Hi all

Playing around with Lumion, Im trying to work out the best method of recreating a fairly large landscape that exists in real life.

I would be interested to know how other people create landscapes that are not flat and have roads on them and then import them into Lumion 2.5. for best results.

Is Sketchup the way to go? 3DSMax?

The idea is to create this landscape that I can then put a building onto that I have already modeled.

The problem I am having is making a convincing landscape that has roads on it, something that Lumion doesn't seem to do very well, or am I wrong?

thanks for any help

Take a look at CityEngine (http://www.esri.com/software/cityengine)!

If you want keep it all inside Sketchup, these plugins are very powerful.
I ended up buying them all  :7

Then there is Infrastructure Modeler, but it might be overkill for your needs!

I still use Cityscape promo, the free ver that came with 3ds Max exports FBX straight into Lumion/Max etc.
