Title: Animation speed of objects
Post by: mischa on March 10, 2011, 10:54:26 am
Hi Lumion staff,

after my opinion it would be great to have a better opportunity to determine the speed of an object animation and when it will start and stop. Do you think something like that would be possible? It would also be very helfull when it would be possible to copy such animation keys into other clips or to invert an animation (door opens and later goes back to the closed position (greetings to frank)), so that it is easier to have the objects at the same position in the following clip.

Ah yes this a known issue. There are several areas where we can improve the animation. Please bare in mind that the animation features right now are VERY simple. We intended to not have any animation at all for the initial release so what you have now is the bare minimum functionality so you can create animations. Areas of improvement that come to mind:

Yes that would be nice features and I know that we are still version 1 of Lumion. Was only frustrated that my car drives so slowly because the animation runs over the whole movie and doing the animation only in the clip would be difficult ot do because then it must be at the same position in the next clip... impossible to do. So I just did some thoughts how it could be better and still quite simple to do.

One trick is to apply the move object effect to the main movie clip. This will ensure the motion of the car is consistent across clips.

I know this "trick". Some of my animations go over the whole movie, but this causes also that the car drives veeeeery slowly. To avoid that I must build a much longer animation path, but that does not work because then I must let the car drive up a hill and drive some curves...
