Title: 2.5 project in 3.0
Post by: Zdenek Fajfrlik on January 31, 2013, 12:55:48 pm
hi,
so now the time came to install 3.0 soon and would like to proof the following:

so i think about combining some single 2.5- projects into a bigger project in 3.0

if i open 2.5 files in 3.0, i will be able to save the material-matrix, right?

if i the create a new project in 3.0 , import all daes (used for 2.5 projects before), i will
be able to reload / reaply the material definitions for each single project , right?

if this works, one could work on several parts of a project (houses, city-units and so on) and keep the masterfile for outdoor design and final works.
thanx for replies.
regards stan

Hi stan, I assume you're talking about the Load/Save Material Set functions, correct?

if i the create a new project in 3.0 , import all daes (used for 2.5 projects before), i will be able to reload / reaply the material definitions for each single project , right?

All that a saved Material Set will look for is identical material names (as specified in your 3D modelling application). If it finds a match, the saved material in the Material Set will be applied to all surfaces that use a material with the matching name.

if this works, one could work on several parts of a project (houses, city-units and so on) and keep the masterfile for outdoor design and final works.

Yes, that should be possible, as long as you're being very meticulous with the material names in your 3D modelling application :)
