Title: Laptop Graphic Cards.....Help?
Post by: delman on November 20, 2014, 02:58:39 am
Looking at Lumion for work and they only provide Lenovo laptops. I'm not an expert on the tech-specs of laptops/pc's - is the workability of Lumion SOLELY DEPENDANT on the 'benchmarking points' of that card or is there more to it?
The best Lenovo (gaming/multi-media) laptop I can see is the 'Y' series and it only incorporates an NVIDEA GTX-860M offering, at last look, a 1,987 passmark which would seem not enough for any complex models.  Is it that simple and therefore the Y series not worth considering for that reason?   Or am I left with no option than going back to a pc  where I can upgrade the graphic card.  Cheers.

Hi delman, that's correct.

You are better off looking for an M-series card with a higher PassMark score, ideally with as much VRAM as possible.

An example is the 880M with an average score of 4,328 points (http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/gpu.php?gpu=GeForce+GTX+880M&id=2850).

Thx Morten. That confirms my fears. Before I investigate dropping back to a PC can anyone reading this post pls let me know if they have any recommendations on laptops they may be using successfully for Lumion work (complex models)?
Thanks in advance.
