Title: looking for a street building 3d software
Post by: Zdenek Fajfrlik on December 07, 2012, 08:10:15 pm
dear lumion friends,

does anybody know a good (maybe not too expensive) 3d-street-building software, which can export in a lumion-suitable format?

my new job contains a large part of a city and sketchup does not provide tools like this, as far, as i know.

it should be able to generate meshes, have a mesh modeller or mesh import and tools for drawing
streets (differen profiles) on it, maybe streetcars etc.....maybe even some outside equipment.

has anybody an idea of a software like this, i could test?

thanx a lot

If you can spend the money:

http://www.esri.com/software/cityengine/ (http://www.esri.com/software/cityengine/)

If not there are lots of buildings in google warehouse you can import

http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/ (http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/)

hi tug,
nice, if it is also interesting for others......

i found a simplier script for skp and had contact to the programmer,
from

http://www.valiarchitects.com/sketchup_scripts (http://www.valiarchitects.com/sketchup_scripts)

who wrote me:

......' Stan,

Thank you for your interest. My road script is pretty simple. It can make center islands, but lane lines must be made using something like the SketchUp drape tool. It can make intersections but doesn't do closed loops and doesn't intersect separate runs of the script. These operations must be done with gaps and manually stitched together.......'

could be interesting for smaller tasks.......and the are other scripts, too, maybe useful for somebody

regards stan

Hi Stan

I'm absolutely agreed... Vali's scripts for Sketchup are really useful, even in large landscaping models, but you have to study well how to use it when you're using large terrain's meshes and large models to avoid sketchup's crash (remember is a 32 bits program)....

it's simple and cheaper tools for modelers.

In the same way for SketchUp users, but with other features, Modelur is a very good tool.
