Title: Array of trees
Post by: st_george on November 26, 2012, 02:11:14 pm
I am trying to get an array of trees on a straight line.
I found this explanation:

Quote
(CTRL) + "Space" command: The selected objects will be placed in a straight line as defined by the objects that are furthest away from each other. (CTRL)-select objects -> Context menu -> Click on the selection icon of one of the selected objects -> Transformation -> Space)

But I do not understand it.

I drew the two ending trees, and I want to "fill" the space in between with trees on equal distances.
What should I do?

Thank you.

Hi st_george,

1) Add as many trees as you want in the row (make sure they're pretty close to each other, e.g. in a small circle).

2) Move 2 of the trees to the start and end points of the row you want to make.

3) Select all trees -> Context menu -> Click on one of the trees' circular object icons -> (CTRL) + Space.

The trees will now be distributed in a straight line between the 2 trees in your scene with the greatest distance between them.

Thank you for the reply Morten.

What is the difference between "Add" and "Place". I do no understand.
I already add a number of trees in a row (step 1). So how can I now additionally place 2 more (step 2)?

I've edited the instructions above - hopefully it should be clear what you need to do now.

Understood.
Thank you Morten.

It might be a good thing (for the future versions of the Lumion) to have an copy an array of objects, starting from only one object.
For example to choose one object, then click to the point were we want an array of those objects to end, end then type in the number of objects we want to have in between.

But that's just my opinion.

Thank you once again.
