Title: Max Number of Lights in Lumion??
Post by: delvinj on October 06, 2014, 09:56:04 pm
Just wondering if anyone knows if there is a max number of lights that can be displayed in Lumion? I have 330 in my model, however when i render, not all of them are on  :-[

Thanks in advance for your help,

Hi delvinj

I would have to check with the developers for that value.

It's a lot more than the 330 you are using though.  I'm aware of some users with 1000 or more per scene.  It does depend on available memory on the GPU to display all the lights and the shadows.

1.  Which version of Lumion are you using?

If you have some lights in a layer that is then hidden by using a Hide Layer Effect then that effectively turns them off when rendering.

2.  Do they display during Preview of the clip where the don't render?
3.  What Optimize setting are you using  re Accuracy/Speed/Memory?

Thank you for a prompt response. I believe i have figured out why some light were missing.

However, i do have another question; which lighting setting is the most optimal in your opinion Accuracy or Memory?

Thanks in advance,

Hi

That's good.  Can you share your solution for others please.

Also (as requested) please let me know what version you are using.
And, what type of lighting, interior, exterior, street lighting etc?

Refer LUMION 4: Tips, Tricks and Shortcuts (http://forum.lumion3d.com/f-a-q/lumion-4-tips-tricks-and-shortcuts/).

You were right Peter, had some lights on a hidden layer  ::)

Also, thank you for pointing me to the tip and tricks. My scene is a mix of mostly interior, exterior and some street lighting. In the lighting properties I selected memory, in order to speed things up a bit with so many lights. I used global illumination for the exterior lights closest to the camera.

Using Lumion Pro 4.5 (modeling done in Revit 2014). I convinced my office (Page Southerland Page) to purchase Lumion and everyone is very happy with the quality of the renderings and the great turn around time.

Thanks again,

Great to hear that, devinj - and thanks for sharing your set-up and the solution to the problem :)

Can I ask you which graphics card you're using?

(Don't forget to enter your Lumion license key at the bottom of your forum profile page (http://forum.lumion3d.com/profile/?area=forumprofile))

I'm impressed that you can squeeze that much out of your PC - well done! :)

(You're probably already aware of this but the graphics card (http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/gpu.php?gpu=Quadro+K4000&id=2272) is rather slow by today's standards)
