I'm definitly in. Took a look at the models yesterday (nneds a good amount of fix ups beause of inverted faces and z-fighting) and its a fine piece of architecture with a challenge to get a great presentation out of it. I think custom content and materials is king this time. :)

Is this in any way as the second Lumion Competition?
Or we can wait another initiative with free theme for the year-end as happened in 2011?
Good idea by the way, also like Mies, but I´m sorry that, have of comparison all the renderings that have been made with Maxwell. I don´t know if this contrast will benefit much to Lumion.
This is like when you make a render that looks great and then the architect sends a shot of the finished work taken by professional photographer and you realize that yours was just a cartoon very unrealistic. :D

You could choose a theme which is not realistic at all. So it would not suffer in a direct compairson with Maxwell.
I personally dont care about the previous Maxwell contest (I care in terms the great ideas and work done there of course), because Maxwell and Lumion are just two different tools. :)

It is not, so do not mistake it.

It is hosted and arranged from A-Z by RonenBekerman.com challenge nr 4 "The Museum".

And its video/animation rendering that counts towards the end. Comparing still images vs Vray and Maxwell cant be done in 2.5. But render a spectacular animation, that you can do the Lumion way in the time frame given, probably you can even make 10 entries in the time frame :p

Hope to see your work in the competition :D

That is the right approach!

It is true I set these up on rather opposite sides. Maxwell Render being on the flank of the usual rendering stream in any case with its unbiased approach and there for long render times vs. VRay for example.

But Lumion is a different animal all together!

Render times do not play a role here, and we have motion to think about too this time with much more creative freedom and time to explore.

I think you can all let Lumion SHINE on this one ;)

That's not funny...there  is just nothing more frustrating. Now when I arrive at a page and see the code sitting there I quickly move on.  I deprive myself of certain transactions by doing that but it has never stopped me from finding an alternative.
I suggest you do the same....there are already enough frustrations (in our jobs) in life that you can't eliminate.
Sorry to intrude in the thread but I understand Nic.
There is response logic available to replace these devices.
Hey...no knock on the page Ronen or the contest....you gotta do what you gotta do.

Hi Nicolas!

Your eagle eyes are everywhere. We have / and will distribute information about the challenge, and your feedback is important  regarding problems in registrations etc.

The biggest challenge for Ronen is that Ronen is split in 3 (or so I see it) his  blog, his company Polytown and his engagement in other CG events.

Not that is an excuse, its just a suggestion to an explanation. Ill bump him and hopefully he can come with a solution to avoid future problems.

Truls tells me that you can use any license you've got (also Lumion Pro Educational).

If you submit some work-in-progress images with Lumion Free, you will get access to a full Lumion Pro license for the remainder of the competition.

Thanks. :)
I guess the asian guy wins because 1.in my opinion very good camera, music, colors, composition and 2. more commonly theme for his exhibition with great indoor presentation of the exhibition. It totally blew me away as I've seen his movie. The others also had nice concepts there with the animated elements. Hard to decide.

Mine is technical good in terms of details, materials, sourrounding geometry and so on. But the exhibition itself could maybe be a bit to "experimental" and uncommon for the jury out of architectural photographers and other arch-viz people. Maybe I missed some essential elements for an architectural presentation. I'm no architect or photographer. I come from game-dev, lol.

But I'm the winner of hearts no matter what happens. My son (just got six) was so amazed as he saw the final movie with his work in it with the (CG) poeple looking at it, haha. :D
It was also a very cool contest and it turned out the best work I did so far with Lumion because i was free with it.
