This is only a test, 4 hours of work

...a good work needs more time...

 

auto critics:

gigantic reflections on glass materials…but i don't know how to reduce them

some flicker on overlapped polygons

bad smooth on some parts…in Max 2010 weren't visible

bad camera interpolations

birds fly through the walls

the original movie on the timeline ended with a fade out to black but wasn't renderized

Hihi, auto critics…must remember that.

Did you experiment with the reflection control movie effect?

Indeed the reflections are bad and you will probably agree this is an area where Lumion needs some improvements.

Regarding the smooths, did you export as editable mesh or editable poly?

 I find the 1st to work best, even when both actually work.

I also create my own smoothgroups because autosmooth is sometimes just too stupid.

What do you mean by bad camera interpolations?

 I'm missing some finetuning sure but most of all the different angles you have choosen 

just don't feel to match-up really well when you view them one after another.

 I like to get the feeling the architect 1st shows me the entire house and

then takes corners and detail shots in a logical order.

Perhaps this is what you mean as well?

Did you render this with RC2? Could you check something for me?

 What is happening with the shadows of the concrete at 0.04-0.05 and palm at 0.32?

I have encountered this issue as well since RC2 and perhaps this is a bug

 cause I cant seem to fix it with shadow-range sometimes (which always used to work in RC1).

 For a 4 hour job this was a very nice movie. Looking forward to see more!

There is a shadow issue? When you get rc3 please let us know if it is still there.

self criticism....thanks to Google translator...;)

 

I translated the model using the .max file without exporting in dae format.

Regarding the animation I use in Max path constrains or keyframes and I adjust animation curves. I don't like the Lumion approch. For example you can't create a shot of 13 frames exactly.

Every shot must have two handles (left and right) to decide how many frames will be long. The interpolation between frames could be tweaked with animation operators: ease in, ease out, linear, bezier, auto smooth.

Is not possible to slow the characters animations, they have fixed speed. I don't like the character that moves his arms so rapidly.

The flicker you see is caused by reflections. They are too big and cause flashes.

Probably there is flicker on some overlapped polygons. Vray has a tolerance parameter that find if two polygons stay overlapped.

I don't know what happens in shadows, they change their position...or is the AO effect.

Not sure Ferry.

I was having the distinct impression RC2 requires one to set the shadow range on max for more scenes but that wasn't the case.

 I'll continue to test this and report if I find any issues.

 

@gabrielefx > Perhaps increasing shadow range solves your shadow issue? Could you let me know please?

It's obvious that all the people and animal animations unfortunately are too fast in MP4 movies (Ferry has been informed about this bug).

Did you already experiment with Material Editor -> Standard Material -> Placing -> Depth Offset?

depth offset don't help because the overlapped polygons stay on the same material/objects

If you have 1 surface that overlaps Lumion won't be able to fix it.
