this isnt done in lumion, isnt it ?

i think lumion could match nearly most of the scenes, but not all at the moment ...

This is nothing to do with real time rendering.
Layer 3D is not a application but a Thailand company which make and prepare 3D Digital Visualization such as Architectural Animation Exterior Perspective Interior Perspective etc so your thought is valid the best solution is still Lumion3d.

No isnt Lumion, is done in 3dmax-vray and Maya animation(network render)

We need animated textures for TV and Movie screens also, I have a job now that would really benefit from this.

(Hi Simon, please post requests for new features in the Wish List section, so that they will be read by the right people)

It would be a huge step towards realizm and photo-real.

yes ! yes ! yes !

i really dont understand why this isnt integrated in lumion by now.

from day one you told us that is doable because of quest3d can already do it.
so why not integrate it. it has been much requested ...

kind regards

Hi Stucki, I don't think any of us said that "from day one" (Nov 30 2010) - it was first mentioned during 2011. I understand that you are have waited for this feature for a while, but it's not as straightforward to implement this as it might seem at first glance.

In Quest3D, animated textures are streamed from files on the harddrive. In Lumion, however, the developers strive to include as many external files as possible in the Library and Scene files, so that they are more or less self-contained.

Add to that the minefield of playing video files with exotic codecs, framerates and resolutions, alpha masks if using .MOV files, combined with the new framerate types in Lumion, and things can quickly get very complicated to implement.

Quest3D users are usually quite tech savvy and know how to prepare their video files in order to make them work. I doubt that the developers want to place a similar burden on Lumion users.

thanks for clarifying this to me !
sorry if i sounded harsh, wasnt my intention.
i just remembered a long while ago you mentioned that it wouldnt be so hard to implement because it was already working in quest3D.

day one was a little exagerated, i see now ! sorry for that !!

i think you shouldnt bother with all the different formats.
just allow us one or two good codecs to implement. there are so many tools to convert videos to other formats. i think everybody working with lumion will be able to get their video files to the right format than.

kind regards

Yes, I have a feeling they may be forced to do this to reduce the potential for problems.

I wonder if there are other video formats than 32-bit QuickTime (MOV) files that support an alpha channel? Does anyone know?

It might come in Lumion3.0 ?

It might come in Lumion3.0 ?

Hi jorgensen, unfortunately I can't answer that question, even if I knew the answer :)

The problem is that if a potential customer purchases Lumion on the basis of us promising that feature X will be ready by a certain date, and this promise fails to materialise, it could be interpreted as false marketing.

For that reason, the developers have to wait with announcements until they're 100% certain that a given feature will be included.

Hi Morten

I know that you can't comment on planned / unplanned functions.

I just insinuate that act-3d needs to have some functions up their sleeves - so we blow our wallets and buy the new version :-)

Well, personally I'd absolutely love to see this feature in Lumion, but I'm not the one who has to get my hands dirty and actually implement it :)

The reason it's an important feature is not just that it would make it possible to add simple stuff like TVs and animated 2D people to Lumion - it would also open the door to more high-end visualisations where compositing plays a bigger role.
