Title: Custom animation frames?
Post by: Michael Betke on April 27, 2012, 10:59:49 am
I would like to mix some animation sequences for a character and use the frame sequence in lumion to tell some kind of a story. Like people jogging in a parc area or other things which can be done with mocap data.

Is it possible with the current version? I exported an animated animal but it doesnt work with my Lumion latest build. Do I need the animation plugin or even only ultimate?

If so, will it be possible in the near future?

Hi Michael, it is currently not possible to import vertex animations in Lumion, so you're limited to move/rotate/scale animations.

I don't know whether vertex animations will be supported in the near future (that's a question for Ferry/Arthur/Remko).

hi,
i just test "cyclic" animation mixed with "follow path" animation in blender and work fine in lumion after fbx import.

Did you import vertex animation into Lumion?

Please tell how you did that.

no ryste3d, not vertex animation
but animate one parent object without keyframe on a curve as follow path and animate some children object  with a cyclic keyframe
to make birds flying by example (first for the bird ,second for the wings)

The current vertex animation import pipeline is very arcane and requires PointOven (not free unfortunately), Quest3D and some functions in Lumion that are not included in the retail version.

Hopefully this procedure can be made more user-friendly in the future by switching to FBX point caches:
