Title: Lumion team needs your help!
Post by: Ferry on April 20, 2012, 11:03:55 am
Hello All,

We are planning a few new movies for the front page of Lumion. One of them is a 1 minute movie with really good user created movies. Like the current main movie has at the end.

Therefore we ask you to provide us with JPG/PNG/BMP sequences of around 5 to 10 seconds max of your best work.

In return we will market this movie a lot and your name and logo will be shown in the bottom bar like in the current main movie.

We will of course announce a new Lumion competition at one point and if you already worked on that you can safely provide 5 to 10 seconds of your best work and still win an eventual competition.

The resolution should be minimum 1280x720 and rendered at 3 star!

Please use a site like : https://www.wetransfer.com/ (https://www.wetransfer.com/) to get us your sequence.

Our beta group will help decide who makes the pick.

You can personal message me with the link to your work and name and logo.

Thank you!

Just bumping this post to get more of you to send us your Image sequences :)

Official Lumion videos are watched by thousands of people, so this is a great opportunity to show the world what you're capable of!

As soon as possible (for the first version) but we can always update the official video with new material later on :)

Is it ok with Lumion + some post work (After Effects)?

We would prefer raw still image sequences from Lumion, but if your clip won't look right without postwork and it's a great shot, we'll probably just write Lumion & AfterEffects in the "credits" bar at the beginning of the clip :)

Can I add my logo on the photoshop on each image?

We're aiming to give each user contribution a standardised look in the video, so it's best if you send us your logo (with an alpha channel) via email, so we can add that as an overlay in the final compilation video.

Also please let us know how you would like to be credited in the video, e.g.:

Can we submit work produced with Lumion free? Ie with the Lumion watermark in the corner?

If you have a Lumion Free scene, it's probably easier if we render it for you. Please zip the Scene + Library files and send us an email with the download link, the information above (Name/Company name etc) as well as the clip numbers you would like to contribute with.

Really difficult to choose a great looking 10sec flight. I end up with 13sec or so.
I don't want to show only a small detail shot which is not so telling.

That's fine, Michael - we will most likely edit it though (and add fade in/out ourselves).

Hi Blendman, we will keep updating the Client Showcase video, so feel free to upload JPG sequences of your very best clips.

Nice stuff in there. Especially the one with the lots of vegetation near the water is great. Too bad mine wasn't picked. I'm now unsure if I really should submit the whole video I made for the client to the arch awards.

Hi Michael, the clip you sent us was cool but lacked a little polish due to the satellite image that had been applied to the buildings in the background. Another suggestion I heard was to change some of the bright car colours so they look less like toy cars.

No harm done in sending it to the CGArchitect Awards - just bear in mind that their real-time category will require a real-time scene (Scene + Library files), not a clip.

Thanks for the feedback. It's indeed not finished. We used it more as a decision making scene with the client and the polish wasn't done.

I could supply a scene with the new Pro license I guess alsthough I wasn't able to find anything about a .exe for their contest. All people seem to submit videos.

Hi Michael, are you sure that videos are allowed?
http://3dawards.cgarchitect.com/rules (http://3dawards.cgarchitect.com/rules)

"Real-Time
This category is meant for any work that has been created using an application or plugin that facilitates real-time rendering AND user interaction. (Some examples of this type of software are Quest3d, Twinmotion, RenderLights, Lumion, Unreal Engine, etc.) Near real-time rendering engines like iray or QuickSilver do not qualify for this category."

In other words, if you use Lumion for rendering videos, each frame takes a few seconds in 3 star quality, so isn't that more like iRay/QuickSilver, i.e. near real-time rendering?

I guess we should ask Jeff Mottle to clarify whether they want Lumion Scene + Library files, so they can inspect your scenes in Lumion - or if videos are acceptable. If the latter is the case, we need to know what constitutes an acceptable render-time per frame in order to qualify as a real-time rendering engine...

Real-Time Submission Rules

You may submit no more than 5 projects per company, person or group.
Your project must have been created in 2011 or 2012 or made public in 2011 or 2012. Any projects determined to have been created before this will be disqualified.
Submissions must be sent as QuickTime MOV or MP4 Videos. You should use a software like Camtasia or other screen recording software to record the interface and navigation through your real-time scene.
If multiple real-time projects from the same company, person or group are scored in the top 5 for the Real-Time category, only the highest scoring image will be selected.

With near-real time they name Iray and others because some people mess up the terms. If Lumion is named then it's for real time category. Last year Lumion videos were okay too.
Too bad you can't win with Lumion in movie category...all te cg vids are very great.

Ah, thanks for clearing that up, both of you :)

Best of luck - hope you submit the winning video!
