Title: What's the model of your graphics card?
Post by: Ecuadorian on April 16, 2012, 04:56:51 am
The reason for the question is that DirectX 11, available in all new cards, has some really cool features needed in Lumion, so maybe if enough of us are ready for the switch, they'll at least stop and think about it.

If I recall correctly, another reason for not using DirectX11 was because of the operating system. Something about XP compatibility.

You're right. Well then, let me rephrase the question:

What graphics card do you have, and what Windows version do you use?

Mine: GTX 570 on Windows 7 Pro 64.

Our rigs are eqipped with Radeon 6870 and GeForce 560Ti, both 2GB Vram. Considering upgrades to Nvidia GK110 4GB+ cards when those come out. Running Win7, so Lumion DX11 would be very welcome.
Could be interesting to ask how many Lumion users were still using XP. My guess is not that many, except maybe with the free version.

I've got the 3GB GTX 580...but, would love to get a 4GB GTX 680. I'm sure it will be great for Lumion, but I'll need it to be OK for 3ds Max as well. Exciting times with new GPUs coming out! I haven't typically been a GPU-watcher, but I've been a little surprised at how long it has taken Kepler-based cards to make it to production.

Maybe the question should be who is still on XP and using Lumion for production (ie earning money). Those people can then be shot and we get DX11. Everyone wins.

The point of waiting to switch until x.x percentage finally upgrades to a new OS is of course a bit silly. Lumion should support DX11 since the majority of its clientbase is ready as ever for it.
