Title: 3D Projection Design in Lumion
Post by: blendman on April 03, 2012, 06:21:32 am

Hi All,

There are now many different types of 3D projection.  Can someone tell me what the 3D projection is in Lumion?  Also what type of 3D glasses you need to watch the outputted videos?

Finally if you know where one can acquire the 3D glasses, for the purposes of viewing all?

Regards,

blendman

No, Lumion exports side-by-side 3D images:

If you upload such a video to YouTube, I believe you can convert it to a variety of 3D formats, depending on how you want to watch the video. YouTube can also convert a regular 2D video to 3D. The recommended format for YouTube is "H264 AVC 1920x1080 Side by Side Left/Right" which I think is exactly how Lumion renders 3D images:

I'm experimenting with this, too, as you can see in another thread.

You can convert Lumion's side-by-side to anaglyph (Red/Cyan) using this free software:
http://stereo.jpn.org/eng/stvmkr/ (http://stereo.jpn.org/eng/stvmkr/)

Be aware that the input needs to be in AVI format, so you'll need to render from Lumion as an image sequence and assemble the sequence as an AVI in VirtualDub.

Many thanks for this!!
