Title: Complex models
Post by: jlnsvfx on March 06, 2012, 10:51:38 pm
I am importing large models of buildings with structural and mechanical systems.  I have an nvidia quadro 4000/12 gigs ram/dual quad processors.

When I start adding materials Lumion really slows down to the point where it freezes alot.  If I were to upgrade my system to handle these large models what would you recommend.

Looks like we will be doing alot of similar models as well in the future.

thanks,

Hi Julian, here's how your Quadro 4000 compares against a GTX 580:

If you do decide to upgrade your graphics card, please make sure you get a PSU that can supply the card and all your peripherals with enough power. This may require up to 850W depending on your hardware configuration.

The Quadro cards are for CAD, Autocad, Inventor etc ... with the specific drivers.
With Lumion that works like a video game, you need a card like game GTX range

With my Quadro 5000, I have no problem with Lumion, but it is not optimal as a GTX580
