Nice camera work.

I did notice though that the camera is jittery in some places, not sure if that's just the YouTube vid file or from the render process.

Good to see Revit being used.

That's a nice piece, thanks! I must say though that the people let me down...not your fault. I am riding along with you looking at the cool architecture and all of a sudden the setting is spoiled by the animated characters. They always look out of place. I can't say that anyone else can do it either.... a great step forward for Lumion would be animated characters that look more like live people.

We are painfully aware of this. As a minimum, the animated characters will need better animations and normalmaps (they're currently only using diffuse textures).

Thank you...
I'm so happy, this looks (to me) GREAT !!!
Lumion team are doing a superb job!
Everyday the'll be trying to implement new and better elements.
Thanks Lumion Team.
 ;)

***PS. I just split the video and apply better transitions...

Morten I have always hesitated to say so only cause I see it as not possible for now.
I mean not possible for anyone. I have been around a bit and the industry has dumb animated people models everywhere. I can't find any people makers either except for gamers. I have seen a few good people at evermotion but the gear required to run them is out of my league.

I think somebody has to come up with a better idea.... experimenting with live greenscreened characters projected on clipmaps within lumion. The oclusive characteristics of the video character might be faked with a proxy object on which the clips could be projected...that sounds nuts doesn't it? :D

I was here once before but got distracted cause there wasn't a single example of in-context animated characters...I see lots of 2d which look good but do you know where to find examples of their animated characters?

Does Lumion support RPC's?

ArchVision sample RPC animation: 3d Seated People (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GvyC-cejmAQ#)
They've basically filmed people from 360 degrees, and as the camera in the 3D application moves around, the corresponding frame from the video texture is displayed, so it looks like the characters are 3-dimensional.

Obviously this method suffers from the usual limitations that billboard-style characters have, ie, they're paper thin when viewed from above, and shadows don't look convincing as you move the camera round them.

Thanks Morten...looks interesting. ....yes...with great limitations.  It is always good to avoid stadium, theater or church models ......tooooo many people...! :-D

Ha! none of the people are paying attention to whatever they are there for  :-D  :-D, all on their cellphones, tut tut, and looking around or reading etc   :D

I know its only examples showing their characters, but you'd think they would try to at least do more with characters in context.

If Lumion accept textures with alpha channel video or chroma key, we can do according to our needs.

;) I'm happy with the fast results in LUMION, but not with the quality...
I mean in REVIT I can do same walkthroughs or videos and the quality is excellent,
the only problem is that for a video this long will take a week or two to render.

Can you provide us with more details please?

Ie, "... the quality of the __________ (fill in the blank)"

For example, lighting, shadows, materials, reflections etc.

First of all: Thank you Lumion Team for this fantastic program.
I’ve been enjoying working and playing with this.

What I like about Lumion is that you can bring “life” into your project, all this animations, the trees, water, people, even birds, you can create very realistic environments. )In REVIT Is like a real picture but nothing moves…)

I mean: I Love LUMION, the only thing is the resolution of the images aren’t as good as in REVIT.

You can see the differences between pictures and videos in both programs, I’m not saying neither is bad, its just different.

But I know and expect everyday you’ll be improving this amazing app.
Thanks again.
 ;)

...the resolution of the images aren’t as good as in REVIT.

1) Do you mean the resolution as measured in pixels? If so, what resolution do you need to render your videos in?

2) Or are you talking about the clarity/sharpness of the images? (TIP: You can use the Sharpness effect to increase this: New effect -> Movie Plug-in -> Sharpness)

I think Arch JM is just noticing the subtle differences between a Mental Ray look and Lumion's RT/game engine look.

It's a hard thing to explain the exact differences--but it's all part of coming from a CPU/raytrace
experience into the RT/GPU world.

cheers

thanks cbcarch.... no better words...!  ;)

@morten: I'll be trying different effects, and I'll let you know the results...
thanks again.
