- More responsive GUI, especially at low frame rates
- More graphical improvements and settings to tweak

BUG FIXES IN 2.1 BUILD 4:
- The Lightmap material no longer flickers.
- Scene names are no longer incorrectly displayed as "AutoSave".
- The "Lock Position" command now also works for trees and plants.
- Shadow filtering artifacts are no longer present on Print/Poster resolution images.

URGENT: PLEASE READ THIS
In certain situations, a scene may appear to have been saved, but the next time you load it, it seems to have been overwritten by a scene that you have previously worked on. Apologies for the inconvenience - it's a really nasty bug, so please bear with the developers until the problem has been resolved.

AFFECTED VERSIONS
Lumion 2.1 Build 3 and 4 (and possibly earlier 2.1 builds as well)

RECOMMENDATIONS UNTIL THIS HAS BEEN FIXED
Restart Lumion after you have saved a scene.
Make backups of Scene files as soon as you have saved a scene.
The files are located in Documents/Lumion 2/Scenes

HOTFIX IF PLANTS ARE SWAYING TOO FAST IN THE WIND
Windows 32-bit: Please exit Lumion, unzip the attached Hotfix_PlantsVsWind_32-bit.zip and copy it to Lumion Installation Folder/Channels/.
Windows 64-bit: Please exit Lumion, unzip the attached Hotfix_PlantsVsWind_64-bit.zip and copy it to Lumion Installation Folder/Channels/.

MISSING SHADOWS: HOTFIX FOR MAC USERS WITH ATI CARDS
You should only follow the procedure below if you have a Mac with an ATI graphics card, and if certain object types such as trees don't cast shadows in Lumion:

1) Exit Lumion
2) Download the attached iMac_Shadows_WinXX-bit.zip file that matches your version of Windows (32- or 64-bit)
3) Unzip the zip file
4) Overwrite the following file in your Lumion installation folder:
    Lumion\Channels\89E051CA-4273-4EB9-89C8-5FD0CDA1B026.dll

Hi Remko and stuff,

Downloading as I am writing (before the rush hours). Exciting features (the co-ordinate enhancement is especially useful)

Interesting thing this translation (will definitely check it out). My countrymen are unfortunately very bad at foreign languages.

(Now if only I were sure of the meaning of some of the stuff of course :) )

I love what I've seen in Lumion so far.  Will probably be buying soon.  In order  to further test the capabilities, I'm downloading 2.1 now. Can you open models created in Lumion Free sp2.b8 in Lumion Free 2.1?

Thanks

We did not design the free version and paid versions to work together. You could try copying the scene files from the free version to the full version and see if it works. They both have their own folder in your user Documents folder.

I've prepared Polish translation.
You can get it here: http://www.lumion3d.pl/?page_id=787
 (http://www.lumion3d.pl/?page_id=787)
It's still to be improved.
Any suggestions are welcome.
Switching to updated version is extremely easy :)

Maybe there should be another subject only with links to other translations when they come?

You should be able to install both 2.0 and 2.1

The free 1.0 files shoud be able to load in free 2.1 however you need to copy the files to the new folder. Lumion free 2

What about PL version which I made months ago for Arthur?
You can replace the language files and it will work. We have not integrated other languages yet because they are not fully complete yet because some menu change and new text needs to be translated. With this release we included 2 languages we could do ourselves and as soon as we have the updated files for other languages we will include them.

For mant languages we still depend on users from those countries to volunteer for the translation. It's no use hiring a translation bureau because the texts are all to specific to 3D. Arthur is working on a new forum topic specific about this topic so hopefully soon we'll have more translation files. The more languages we cover the better!

Hm. I have been having installation issues (error messages after installation and running the program) on my 32 bit XP. Have been suffering to see if it's my machine or some Lumion issue. Downloading the installer fix now - hopefully it will get fixed.

So much about my luck being the first to download! :D

Okay, I promise that my next investment will be a new computer.

Remember that the torrent files have auto correct so they will never fail to download correctly.

You can translate Lumion to any language by taking the appropriate version from the forum and change the translation. We can add a country/language flag in next versions.

In case your language is not in the list:
It is possible to test your language by simply renaming your language file to an existing language file and selecting that language in Lumion. For more instructions, read the topic 'Localizing Lumion' in http://lumion3d.com/forum/index.php?board=18.0 (http://lumion3d.com/forum/index.php?board=18.0)

Sorry, but don't really get it.  Can someone explain its purpose please.  Why and where you would use it.  Most light sources have their own light mesh, so to what use is this source?

We of course try to prevent that we need a build 2 or 3. We work extremely hard to prevent it. But we know from 10 year experience that always something sneaks through no matter how hard we test.

Morten has done extremely well in testing Lumion 2.1 and with his help this is one of the best releases we had.

We know it is frustrating to have to download a version again but if you can't live with a second or third download please wait 1 or 2 weeks next time we make a big new release so that you have a bigger chance of a single download.

If you really can't live with software ever having a bug I am afraid we will never be able to live up to the expectations.

There are still some minor issues in 2.1 build 3 but we didn't want to change more and wait longer. Also I am sure new issues will slowly come forward making us work towards 2.2 if they are not that bad and if there is something terrible a build 4 will be made.

The issues you see now are side effects on our efforts to reduce memory use of Lumion. We are quite progressive in our approach to software development and not afraid to make drastic changes to the codebase. We know this creates more chances of issues but also is the best straight line towards a perfect solution.

Remko only showed the highlights but there where more then 160 small and bigger features and problems tackled from 2.0 to 2.1

I hope this gives a bit of insight in our really hard effort to provide you with software that is really stable and usable.

I congratulate you!
Although it may seem a bit bipolar with my comments and complaints to software development, I must say "This software is awesome". Thanks. :)

At the moment, the only major issue on the bug tracker list is flickering "Far clouds" on a couple of systems (although I can't reproduce this issue here):
http://lumion3d.com/forum/index.php?topic=3274.0 (http://lumion3d.com/forum/index.php?topic=3274.0)

The rest are minor issues, ie, they do not prevent you from using the main functions in Lumion.

There is a need file SpeedTree yes.

Edit: Can I copy the folder Lumion 2.1-3?

Strange, after I installed the public version of 2.1 Build 4 (instead of using the pre-release version)  the small plants were not swaying too fast anymore.

Could you try to restart Lumion, place a few small flower objects in the scene and check if the plants are still swaying too fast?

If so, the only option is indeed to copy the SpeedTree.dll file from 2.1 Build 3 and overwrite this file in 2.1 Build 4.

It is located in:
Lumion Installation Folder/Channels/

Almost all files, including the new ones.
Now the copied from Lumion 2.1.3.
It was perfect.

EDIT:
Excuse my Inguês "Google"

Almost all the files were with speed problem of vegetation, including the new files.
Now, I copied the files from SpeedTree.dll Lumion 2.1.3.
Now everything is working perfectly.

Let me understand....if we install the latest build (2.1.4) then we need to:

If so, the only option is indeed to copy the SpeedTree.dll file from 2.1 Build 3 and overwrite this file in 2.1 Build 4.

Yes, but only if small plants are "shaking" in the wind.

This happened to me the first time I was running 2.1 Build 4, but I re-installed it to be on the safe side, and now it's working fine. I have no idea why but hopefully Ferry can investigate this issue soon.

I'd strongly advise to install Yadis! Backup then make a (10x or so)
incremental backup on-the-fly rule.
This has saved me 4 times from a Lumion sceneoverwrite disaster now.
Yadis! is free and very easy to configure.

Hello morten, please help urgently ?!
i've run into this problem, all my saved scenes were overwritten by a new one i started !
so i've still got the physical files in the lumion 2 folder, but what can i do with them?
i've restarted lumion and it didn't help, same with computer restart.

should i uninstall lumion and reinstall or is there a solution?

(i can recognize the physical files are my scene because of the name and how much they weigh as compared to the scene that is overriding it which is completely empty and light..)

Help anyone?

Hi amir05, this problem was fixed when Lumion 2.2.1 was released, so I'm guessing you're using Lumion Free 2.1 B3? I should mention that there will be a new version of Lumion/Lumion Ultimate/Lumion Pro/Lumion Free soon (we're beta testing it at the moment).

The bad news is that there is unfortunately no way to retrieve overwritten scene files - unless you made back-ups.

It's obviously very annoying and it happened to me more than once, until I started backing up the Lumion scene folder :-\

Yeah probably you need to upgrade your driver. There's a driver bug which causes shadows not to appear.

Hey amir05, fortunately that's not a requirement :)
