Title: London Photo-matching project
Post by: alester on November 21, 2019, 12:18:12 pm
Hi,

This is a project that I have been working on over the last week, it is the first project that I have used Lumion 10 exclusively on. With its new photo-matching effect I have been able to use Lumion where I would normally have had to use 3DSMax and Vray because of the camera matching. This is really exciting, I have for a long time used Lumion for full CG images but can now use it for the majority of our commercial work which involves photo-matching.

The model took a couple of days to produce with another 3/4 day to do materials and interiors. Camera matching took a couple of hours, mainly due to the fact that I was working out how to do it and also there were no obvious planes that were at right angles to one another so there were a number of 'tweaking' iterations!

Render time were approx 10mins at poster size, and then there was a couple of hours in Photoshop for each view for masking and colour grading.

Full project details can be e found here:

Would love to hear your thoughts.

Anthony

One additional view of the full building in a 'Lumion' background.

Hi Anthony, I just wanted to congratulate you on the best photo matching example we've seen in Lumion 10 so far.

Keep it up! :)

Hi Alester

Great work. Compliments!

Could you also share the context pictures/ photos so that it may be clearly understood as to what nature and extent of photoshop work was needed to be done. As a reference I have attached two pictures of photomatch done (on another software), showing the snap taken of the raw site and the photomatched render. Since we've left the other software (happily, for Lumion), details about the site context will be useful.

Thanks,

Ans, I have attached the original photographs, the camera matching was done on the original photographs, then rendered, coloured and finally straightened.

Hope it helps.

Those shiny tiles look amazing! Are they modeled individually or just a texture with normal map?
