Post by: pjhammond on December 15, 2010, 03:21:07 pm
Is it possible to animate people and cars on a sloped path or even a step.

If so how

you have to define the beginning and the end of movement (arrows)

With the movie effect move items. But it is only the beginning and end of the movie clip you set. For characters that walk you set the direction the character will keep walking in.

I didn't see the wrong orientation yet. That is probably a bug. Do all characters have this?

Models that were originally saved in the original version and opened in the beta update, seem to cause a problem with character movement height and direction.

I reloaded the model from scratch into the beta version together with new characters and it seems to work ok

I have a clue what it might be. If you rotate the character in Lumion and THEN animate it it might be turned incorrectly. So you should reset the rotation. To do this press CTRL in advanced mode. Drag the bank or pitch rotateion and while still dragging press 'R' to reset the rotation. Then use move items.

I have the same problem even on a new model loaded into the beta.

Start frame and end frame character is straight, in the movie she walks sideways.

I found and fixed the problem. It is only on ATI cards. So probably everyone who had the rotated characters had an ATI card.

Right on Ferry. I too had the problem and i mentioned it in the gallery section that i also use Ati. It seems Ati has some compatability issues with Lumion although it's good to hear that it have been fixed. Smile

For those interested in the technical explanation why this happens: If the vertex data stream is lacking data that the shader expects NVIDIA assumes vectors are (1,1,1) while ATI assumes vectors are (0,0,0) this difference creates differences between the two brands in issues we see. The fix is to not use vertex data that is not available in the source stream.

You can also just use Lumion and be glad you do not haev to worry about stuff like this and just report bugs :P

No it means that NVIDIA and ATI have implemented the DX9 spec slightly different causing errors in some cases on ATI cards. The problem has been resolved long time ago.

I am using an ATI Radeon card, and the issue has been fixed.  What build are you using?

Hey everyone,

I'm having a strange, yet similar issue in the make movie area.

I placed several cars and one of the animated walking people in my Lumion scene.  I opened the scene and moved the cars until I got them working right. BUT THEN I set the walking persons path and in the test, it is totally gone...disappeared. Funny thing is that when I created a second shot, the walking character does appear there.

Anyone else have this issue. Plus....the rotation doesn't rotate....it just snaps into a different pivot point.
