This is my internal list. We will make this more readable but here you can see what we did in the last week since release.

Update 1:

- When bloom and streaks where removed fog was not visible

- In 1* fog was never visible

- Custom AutoUV didn't set all texture and custom settings

- Custom AutoUV and base materials of Lumion couldn't use the original texture UV

- Some new scenes had SSOA range on maximum and a water model in the void

- Our rotated grid AA was not active in 1920x1080 and 1280x720 screenshots

- On ATI cards car colors where black while painting

- Added tangient calculations for original UV maps for use with Lumion material system

- sometimes a material initialisation file didn't load and reinited the material

- Q and E now move up and down the camera

- moved the help button so incidental click is reduced

- created a paging system for materials so that you can have more materials on a model

- in record mode sliding now also sets the exposure and focal animations

- stopping an animation uses the camera at the moment of stop as the new camera

- playing shows a play bar in record mode

- freeimage now uses a different dll name to avoid collision

- renamed the custom materials and gave new icons and new slider names

- fixed a few issues with bloom improving performance and memory usage

- defaults for materials changed

- selection of materials for new materials is now order dependend

- siderock paramater now also works for the rock material

- deleting a custom object from the library deselects that model

- deleting and adding a new object with the same name now works

- you cant delete a model from your library that is in use

- the white landscape option had a problem with the correct shader

- some temporary textures now use memory to transfer

- the landscape set icons now update correctly the first time you load a landscape

- reloading a model had a problem if surfaces where removed

- we had a library inconsistency with the FBX reader plugin resulting in rotated models

- you can properly save all image sequence types

- standard material will now have correct reflection when not defining a custom bumpmap

- you can now have different water settings per material

- you can now add effects over the whole movie making it easier to move people and cars

- panning now also works with shift to make it faster

- pressing G in advanced move now always puts the object on the ground

- the camera now stops moving quicker

- in advanced move rotate is now relative

- shadow range can now be set from 0 to 2 which changes the far ranges from 400 to 1500

- in advanced move mode shift moves the current selection plus dragging object

- there now is a movie effect that lets you control the reflection point range and type

- the LOD of trees for final movie and photo is now 10 times further

- fixed a problem with moving the imported models to a new layer

- glass shader didn't clear its texture if not used

- added DDS and PNG to texture loaded dialog

- added 2d billboard material for custom billboards that face the camera

- when icons are at the exact same position they will now get a small offset this works up to 5 icons maximum

We will release the update as beta first and change the name if it is stable enough. Remember to backup your projects and that using the beta means we advise you to wait until we release it as final.

ok i see, think I will wait for the stable version. nice update. happy about the material slot update and the problem with moving the correct object with many objects nearby. and the moving of an object over the whole movie is great too!

Did DOF make it in this update?

Remko is on holiday so Dof is not in this update. It is almost finished though so should be possible to get that out after this update.

I humbly request it be put on top of the list.

DOF would help so much in adding much more realism and believeability to a movie. Was really crossing my fingers it would be in this update....But it's the Holidays afterall.Laugh

Well try Motion blur for now. It adds a bit of depth.

Thanks again for the tip. Motion blur does add some depth.

I'm sure you've seen this vray movie production by Alex Roman -
. I think the the photo-realism is greatly
enhanced by the DOF effects.

I am trying to get as close as possible to vray realism w/ Lumion
lightmaps...I think I can do it...maybe not quite like Alex off course....But I think DOF or at least some way of
outputting z-depth pass from Lumion will get me closer.Wink

Yes DOF will help a lot. The main thing we need to do to finish it is to create a faster version of our current really good looking version.

Any insights on the ETA?

My intentions are to give the full-version a good testrun before commiting to anything critical so I'd be happy to settle for the beta if

that speeds things up a bit Wink

many thanks!

what are the differences between RC1 and RC2 ?
Title: Lumion Update
Post by: mischa on January 20, 2011, 09:22:56 pm
Got it, thx! The turning wheels are cool and that I can render now only movie parts.
Title: Lumion Update
Post by: Ferry on January 20, 2011, 10:17:42 pm
Many differences from rc1 to rc2 but main are:

- Turing wheels

- scaling

- render only 1 clip

Please let us know if this version works 100% correct. If that is the case we make it update 1 final and will go to update 2 beta so we can get out the new god rays and work on the ocean and particle effects for smoke and fountains etc

Hi, I just bought a Lumion license. Two questions:

-When will I get the "Licensed" badge in the forum?

-Can you please send me the link to the Update installer? The installer is still downloading, but it says just "LumionSetup.exe" with no indication of it being the installer for the latest update.

We will change the system for the licensed member status and the method of being able to download the updates. But for now I'll forward this to Arthur who handles the forum status and the update emails.

It's 11:43 in the Netherlands already and no update yet... Just chcked the spam folder and nothing.

I know if you were able to create Lumion you can automatize this. Laugh

Hang in there, Miguel... Arthur has been notified and we know how annoying it is to wait.

In the mean time, here's a top 10 list of great Kinect hacks to keep you entertained while you're waiting Smile

New update is great.  Really like the ablity to scale objects, and really happy to see that vegetation does not snap on top of each other!  Thanks!  I think it would be nice to see that not happen on cars as well, since I tend to get a car accidently on top of one another when I am quickly placing them as well.

One thing that I noticed test an animation yesterday was that the motion blur effect causes strange blur that did not happen before, maybe it was just in my file?   Anyone else try to add a motion blur yet?

Also opening an old projects, all my trees were gone?

thanks.
Title: Lumion Update
Post by: Morten on January 21, 2011, 07:23:00 pm
Hi Chewbacca, thanks for your feedback.

Motion blur is broken in RC2 so hang in there until RC3 is released (this shouldn't take too long).

Yup, we still have car-to-car snapping and people-to-people snapping – turning both off has already been put on the wish list though.

Regarding the scale issue which affects trees/plant objects added to scenes in an earlier version of Lumion, please use the following workaround (for now Smile):

1) Trees button -> Modify object (click on an "invisible" tree in your scene) -> Selection -> Select All Similar Category

2) Move object button -> Click once on the Scale button of one of the "invisible" trees

All trees/plants in your scene should now have reverted back to their original sizes…

I just installed RC2, followed instal as per usual and even opted to restart when prompted. However when running Lumion from desktop shortcut it hangs on splash screen, does not even get to the network input screen, anyone had this before and know a solution?
Title: Lumion Update
Post by: Ferry on January 21, 2011, 08:13:54 pm
If it doesn't go to the network screen then the securty has a problem with the network. That sometimes takes a LONG up to 40 seconds if there is an issue with the network. Also I'll ask Arthur to check your still registered with the trial server. You where asked to restart? You don't need to re-install the sentinel driver if you already have it. Even since you use the remote trial server you don't need it at all.

Just installed Update 1 RC 2. I'm sooo happyyyyy! Smile

-Material issues when reloading a collada file are solved

-Vehicle wheels now rotate

-Flowers!!!

I'll be busy this weekend modeling a shopping center in SketchUp and animating it in Lumion. I'll be posting the video next week. Laugh

Thanks for the reply Ferry, I checked my firewall and everything is still okay (allowing Lumion/Sentinel through), must be the other reason.

Hey Miguel, please post the completed video on the Sketchucation forum also when possible.
