Title: Animation process in Lumion freezes, after the Lumion window is not active
Post by: st_george on December 18, 2011, 12:22:12 am
When ever I turn on my Firefox window, surf the internet, or do any other stuff, and in that moment the Lumion winow is not active - the process of animation creating, simply stops. If I get back to Lumion window again, the process continues.

What is the reason for this?

It really is irritating. It means, you can not do anything else (your Lumion window needs to be always active) on that PC, while the process of animation is currently present in Lumion.

I did not understand you. "click lumion again."?

As soon as my Lumion window become inactive, the process of animation creation stops.
And yes, I can watch youtube videos, or what ever else. But still the animation process creation is stopped. And it continues again, as soon as I get back to Lumion window.

Ok, you meant: It is active, when the Lumion window is active in the Desktop Task bar.
And it is inactive, when the Lumion window is inactive in the Desktop Task bar.
Right?

Well, I guess this is quite frustrating characteristic of Lumion.

All the rendering applications, can continues rendering, even when you minimize the application`s window.

This means that you can not work anything else on your PC, as long as your Lumion is in the process of animation creation.

Lumion uses the video card for all rendering processes as opposed to CPU rendering with most other programs.  Therefore it is of major importance to have a video card that meets the minimum requirements.  However, even on the best video cards, Lumion requires use of the entire card so that maximum rendering quality and speed can be achieved.  This means that no other processes which use the video card can be used while Lumion is runnning.  It's a good time to take a walk or read a book. :-D

Believe me, with these PC`s I have and my friends, you can take a walk to another city and back, and probably read a half of the book, as a 2 minute animation rendering lasts around 9 hours.

Thank you for the explanation cpercer.

Still It is far less the a couple of months that would take to render this animation on some other regular application.

So nevertheless, I think it is obvious that I have no objections on Lumion, when it comes to the time taken for an animation.

They did initially test background rendering in Lumion, but Windows became very slow and unresponsive, so they had no choice really.
