E X C E L L E N T !!!!!!!!!
/ The selection tool for material change of import models.
/ The new interior 3d models
/ The IES Lights
and The same velocity Render.
Congratulations and Thank You.

EDIT: How good would have been able to make components of the lights, when the same type of light, and changing one and view cloned the rest. But what good is this!

Maybe vcredist_64 tries to install on your system. But this is done at the last point in the installer and that means Lumion might still work. Please try that.

As you can see we have a new item in the bar that can open a menu for clicked scene items. This is also a place where we will try to add movement type in. So even though this feature slipped our initial deadline that doesn't mean we won't build it soon.

We are thinking of recording a Lumion 2.0 introduction which quickly goes through all new features. Next week will still be a very busy week for us fixing the last few issues you might find and getting out all material from press releases to tutorials. We did want to release now so you have time to play with the new candy.

Post by: Ferry on December 17, 2011, 03:48:07 pm
You can turn a spotlight into an ambient light which you can turn into a color you want. Basically in the future this process can be automated giving GI like scenes. Can you tell me if the setup you run uninstalls Lumion when it fails? If that is the case please try to kill the setup in the taskmanager when it shows the first error and see if Lumion is installed.

HELP!  Remko or Arthur,

Please note:  no download link for Lumion 2.0 Basic, in my Customer Area!  Despite having made payment some weeks ago!  :(

Arthur mentioned to me that some users who are eligible for the free 2.0 upgrade still need to receive their key and link. I am sure Arthur will take care of that quickly.

People who have a key with LUM2COM or LUM2ULT can download and run Lumion 2 already. People with upgrade keys, can download and run Lumion 2 after entering their upgrade key in the customer area.

If you bought Lumion 2 after october 1, and still have a Lumion 1 license, you will receive the new key shortly.

Awesome!  Great job guys!

Was there any improvements to Z-fighting?  Or did I miss that part?

A torrent link would be nice.  Otherwise, I usually have trouble with such a large download.

Thanks!

Post by: Ferry on December 19, 2011, 09:03:30 pm
We did try to improve auto zfighting. But if you used depth offset you could already fix z fighting in Lumion 1.0 Together with the front and back plane offset in the movie effect.

But we added that if you import your model we try to detect if your model is modeled ugly in that planes overlap. So we will try to set the depth slider for you a little bit. This might still need manual adjustment though.

how can i import my projects from lumion 1 to lumion 2????

kinda in a hurry
Title: Re: Lumion 2.0 RELEASED!
Post by: Gaieus on December 20, 2011, 01:27:15 pm
...In Windows 7, copy these files:
C:\Users\Username\Documents\Lumion\Scenes -> SceneName.spr and SceneName.sva

And paste them into this folder:
C:\Users\Username\Documents\Lumion 2\Scenes

You will also need to copy-paste the user-imported models you're using in that scene from Lumion/Library to Lumion 2/Library. Each model consists of up to 4 files, depending on whether you have modified the materials and textures of the imported model.

Note that you will need to tweak some settings here and there. Doing a direct import will probably give you a scene with too much ambient or something similar. The materials have completely changed so they will need some small modifications too.

They should not have changed. We're now ironing out the quirks in the 2.0 release so I will make sure we will take a look at this too. All the other issues I heard about are solved.

Here are some fixes I know from the top of my head:
- Fixed SSAO brightness in final render
- Fixed Depth of field with rain/snow/underwater etc...
- Fixed Underwater distortion
- Fixed animated sketch/waterpaint animation
- Fixed 32 bit Installer
- Fixed animated field of view for animations
- Many other fixes

Hopefully you can download this release later this week.

This is all amazing. I see that the tea pot looks almost displaced but the textures following don't appear so vivid....I seem to get some effect in 1 with the normals that I make but not really a displaced effect like this....I wonder if there are some of your normals to look at so that I can improve my own? I use the PS plug-in by nvidia at the moment.

UPDATE:
We're fixing the last remaining issues including some of the bug reports we received today, so to make sure as many fixes as possible can be included in Lumion 2 Build 2 it will be released a little later than expected, ie, hopefully tomorrow.

Apart from bug fixes, there's a couple of improvements that missed the Dec 16 deadline, for example the random car colours, which from now on will be using real-world car colours based on statistical data.

Hi Bruce, unfortunately we can't publish any of the original textures due to copyrights (even normalmaps as they count as 'derivative works'), but creating the normalmaps for the materials in Lumion was very straightforward with CrazyBump:
http://www.crazybump.com/ (http://www.crazybump.com/)

There are some more suggestions in this thread:

So if you have one plug-in already with Lumion 1 - to upgrade to Lumion 2 Basic is 299 euro?

or is it 249 because one already has a plugin with Lumion 1 and when you upgrade the Plug-in comes with it?

Yes, that's correct.

The Movie plug-in that you own includes 5 new effects in Lumion 2: Snow, Rain, Watercolor, Manga, Sketch. There's more information on the specifications page:
http://lumion3d.com/specs (http://lumion3d.com/specs)

In addition, the price above also includes Service Packs and other updates until Lumion 3 will be released in late 2012.

Title: Re: Lumion 2.0 RELEASED!
Post by: RAD on December 30, 2011, 05:59:20 pm
Okay.  Thank you.

Hypothetically speaking:
Would there be discounts to someone if they could get a
major international university (50,000+ students) to invest in Lumion for their computer labs?

I guess a better question would be
- how many copies would someone have to have this university invest in, in order to acquire a free upgrade (for a year or two or as long as the University keeps buying new copies - year after year after year and more and more and more copies)?

Or anyone for that matter.  If I recommend to 5, 4 or 3 people they purchase it and they do with my name as the recommender for the purchase could I get an upgrade?

This has been discussed before but never fully clarified.
Maybe it is too personal for open discussion.

Course I do see some issues with the way Lumion is currently set up as a program being used on University machines.
Activation and deactivation button would be a problem right off the bat so maybe it is not even possible unless there was an institutional version of the software.

I'm just curious.  Talk is cheap ya know.   :)

Just to clarify with the upgrading from Lumion 1 with three plugins to Lumion 2, the cost would be £399 GBP but this would include the three plugins (or their equivalent) working in Lumion 2?
Title: Re: Lumion 2.0 RELEASED!
Post by: RAD on December 30, 2011, 06:50:45 pm
That's what it looks like Simoni.  I was wondering the same thing.
The plug-ins are not fully upgradeable.  I thought they were too.
They don't just come along for the simple basic price as an upgrade for free.

Can we get patches that only contain the fixes and not the complete program and it's libraries?

I'm also having severe issues with the "object clipping" in the V2 build 1 where trees and cars aren't drawn properly until they are about 10 meters away from the camera, and objects in the imported model are being drawn on top of stuff in front of them, like trees etc.
By chance I saw there was a new build available (2,4 gigs to download :( ) so I'm hoping this will fix the issues.

Sorry, forgot I had posted in this thread. Most of the object clipping issues seem to have gone away with the new build (L2B2), so I guess you guys already knew there were some issues regarding this (or just pure luck on my part). The video file is rather large and while not strictly under any nda, I'm not sure the client would like it being posted.
Other than that I'm one of those that still run xp64, with a Asus Geforce GTX 470 1280mb, driver version 280.26

Regarding future patching, there are few thing that beat a proper silent and invisible auto-patcher that downloads in the background through bits or some other non intrusive way. Still manual patches of 10-50 megs are still preferable to DVD size updates. One other thing that bugs me regarding this is the fact that each build also wants to install as a separate program. Why are they not all just installing into ..\program files\Lumion\...... and then if existing files are an issue, askt the user if one wants to uninstall the previous version?

Why are they not all just installing into ..\program files\Lumion\...... and then if existing files are an issue, askt the user if one wants to uninstall the previous version?

There are several reasons for this. First of all some people want to have multiple versions installed just in case there's an incompatibility or something like that. If we have to ensure 100% exact compatibility between versions it would heavily restrict our ability to improve Lumion so there will always be minor differences between versions. Second, we create a whole package to ensure a complete and accurate upgrade. If you removed or modified something in your old version this modification is transferred to the new version and the new version might be broken with this change. A complete package ensures 100% integrity.

What would probably work is a small installer which has the ability to upgrade an old version to a new one an while doing this checks the integrity of the new version. This way you know for sure Lumion was patched properly. We haven't found a program or install system yet which can do this so we'll probably have to do it ourselves. I'll try and look if we can do something NSIS. Essentially it's a matter of finding the files with changes and only packaging those.

Hello!
I have bought Lumion 1.0 Ulimate in October 2011. On the 7th of November I`ve got a letter from support:
"Lumion 2.0 will be available in december/november 2011 from the Lumion website or Lumion resellers. If you ordered Lumion 1.0 after the first of October 2011 your license will automatically be upgraded to a 2.0 license on the release day! For free of course."

Till now I havent recieved key for version 2.0. I`ve written several emails to support and called once, but still no answer and no key for v2.0.

How I can get the key?
thx

Hi luanpinheiro, do you need to use Lumion on 2 PCs at the same time? If so, you'll need to buy 2 licenses:

If you don't need to use Lumion on both PCs at the same time, you can buy a single license and activate/de-activate Lumion on the 2 PCs as required:

2.1 is finished and we would have released it if it weren't for some last nasty problems with the installer and activation. All the bugs we could find are out, new content is in and so are some new features.

Free version will follow shortly after the paid version. We took a bit more time than intended to achieve better efficiency an stability. 2.1 will be a really solid release. We really tried to gather every information and feedback and solve or improve it.

All sounds good.  Few days old now so wondering what progress?

I would prefer to see 2.1 (or a 2.1 solid as) and download the full 2+GB rather than wait to iron out issues if it's to do with an alternative patch based/smaller install type installer. The installers in past have worked fine apart from the size thing, and any change in installer might be considered lower priority compared to time saved in renderings etc etc.  A little headache of file size that will get sorted later is much preferred.

This is also becoming (extremely) important due to the flow-on effect to the Free version of 2 not yet available.

Appreciate you guys are working under extremes and the time and effort being put in.

I agree completely.

I think the full version download is an option that should not disappear, regardless of offer other options (patches, updates on the original, etc..).

I apologize in advance, so I have to say, but:
The time is employing Ferry in these tasks, should use it on other things that broadened the ability of Lumion competitibidad, if only to expand the library (unmanned vehicles, interior items, furniture, etc.), optimization of the RT and even something that users are waiting for windows 7 directx adaptation of this SO (two Lumion an outdated windows XP and another adapted to Windows 7).

All told, only pretend to make a constructive criticism without offending anyone and if I'm confused, again I ask forgiveness.

Regards

This is not about a small installer or something like that. It's just that we need a stable solid version before we can release. The build we had on Friday had some activation issues with the Ultimate version so it would not activate. Hopfully you will be able to download later today. It will be a very stable release and there's even some extra content. I did some experiments with patches for releasing to countries with bad internet connections but the results are not that good. The best solution is to offer a http torrent file for better stability and error correction.

I agree totally with this.  Downloading a massive Gig + is a major time factor here in the M.E., and prefer a bug free upgrade.
