Title: A Lumion Competition for Children
Post by: blendman on December 03, 2011, 06:53:07 am

Greetings All,

Last night at dinner I mentioned to my wife the quality of the Lumion 2011 competition entries, and we had a long discussion about new features and the up and coming Lumion 2.0 version.  My six and half year old asked me if Lumion might one day hold a children's design competition soon.  My wife chipped in and said it would be nice if they could have such a thing for children, using, for example, the Lumion Free version as a basis for children to have a go at 3D design.

I think there is some merit in encouraging children to learn and use 3D design software tools.  In a short space of time, my son has used Sketchup to develop Starwars figures, characters, models.  Nothing put of the ordinary, but I can see the skills developing.

In the long term, promoting creative endeavours for children using the software, and long term loyality may even provide Lumion a long term sustainable investment, not just alone - but contributing towards this for the future.

I hope at some point you guys might consider such a competition as a real prospect.  My son would genuinely like to be part of this, but I would discourage entry with mature (Adult "Architects-standard" competitors as I know just how hard to this is, and might potentially put him off.

It would need to be done for Children and entry by Children only, using children orientated themes etc.

Hope others might like to contribute to how this might potentially be done in 2012! :-D

Regards,

blendman

The question is:  how can you set it up so that only children contribute towards it fairly?  I suppose you could also do in year group brackets.  I'm pleased that some find the idea a good one!

BTW, my first computer was a Sinclair ZX-81, but then I was a late teen ager.  Hardly counted!  :-D

Not really any way to monitor this contest unless it was done in person.

Would just have to be for fun.

I had an ATARI ST with a n extra harddisk, which weighted so much! It gave you the impression that it must be bullet proof...  ;)
