Title: Problems with saving a movie
Post by: lofete on November 29, 2011, 10:36:51 am
Yesterday i finished my movie so i saved it (18:00). Movie (it's only 2:46min long) was supposed to be saved by now but when i wanted to play it in windows media player there was an error and the movie wasn't saved. What's the problem? I was saving movies before and i never had problems.

This is really inconvenient cause i need this movie tomorrow and i still have to make a montage in other programs.

Can you please tell me what is the problem so in the future i'll know how to make things work.

Thanks for the answer(s)

edit: When i try to play it in quick player i get the following error notice: Error -2002: a bad public movie atom was found in the movie

Hi Lofete, it's very difficult to say what could have interrupted the rendering/saving of the movie file.

Is the movie file size suspiciously small? Or did it seem to render (and save) only a part of the movie?

Unfortunately, it's usually virtually impossible to salvage H.264 MP4 files that are incomplete, so if you need to edit the movie in a 3rd party video editor, I would recommend rendering it as an IMG sequence:

Save Movie -> CTRL -> IMG

You can also try saving each of the clips as a movie if you have more than 1 clip to make up the total movie, then merge in your video editor.

This way you will be able to control and find out more closely what part of the movie-clip is causing problems, as well as progressively completing the render of parts.

- try start the rendering process after a full reboot of the PC.
- switch rendering the movie to 2Star if the problem persists in 3Star.
- a number of other suggestions posted by users in the forum could be helpful as well depending on what the exact nature of the problem is.
