Title: [Sold] Lumion license for sale
Post by: peterm on May 21, 2018, 12:54:48 am
Hi

Richard is looking to sell his Lumion license.

Quote
Hi

I bought a licence for lumion 8.0 standard earlier in the year for myself. Since buying the licence my new workplace has seen the work and purchased lumion 8.0 Pro. I have not used the standard one since.

I'm looking to sell on the standard licence if possible, ...

Thinking £800 pounds is a fair price as this would save someone £500 after tax buying second hand

Thanks

Richard

P.S. This is just to confirm that we allow users to sell their licenses if they no longer need them. :)

If you decide to buy Richard's Lumion license you can also upgrade it to Lumion Pro if required.

If there is a deal,  what are the logistics, i.e if i send him the money thru paypal how would you come to know, how can i guarantee that it is not a scam?

Hi Ahmed, I can confirm that a Lumion 8 (Standard) license is registered with Richard's email address ([email protected]).

We have organised license transfers similar to this one quite a few times in the past.

The only thing we don't get involved in is the money transfer, so make sure to use a reputable company for that (Paypal is fine). All that you'll need is a receipt for the money transfer to him.

You and Richard will then be asked to forward your details (and the money transfer receipt) to us at [email protected], in order to let us know that the license transfer can go ahead.

In the extremely unlikely event that Richard continues to use the license after the transfer, we would simply revoke the license and issue a new license to the person who bought his license, so there is a safety net in case of abuse.

Does this answer your question?

Yes it does , thank you.

If there is a deal between us. Shall i post on  this thread that the transaction has been successful?

Morten, does Lumion standard give the same rendering outcome as the Licence Pro?  Also , is it possible to import materials as JPEG for example in Lumion Standard?
Does Lumion Standard do the job for a Freelancer? It is too expensive to buy the Pro if you are a sole proprietor

Yes please. We'd then mark the topic as 'Sold'.

Morten, does Lumion standard give the same rendering outcome as the Licence Pro?

Please see this article:

Knowledge Base article: How Compatible are Lumion and Lumion Pro? (https://forum.lumion.com/index.php?action=kb;area=article;cont=2851)

Also , is it possible to import materials as JPEG for example in Lumion Standard?

Yes, it is.

Does Lumion Standard do the job for a Freelancer?

That depends on the type of projects you work on.

You'd have to make sure that you don't need any of the features in Lumion Pro on this page:
https://lumion.com/specifications.html

P.S. Please also note that the money-back guarantee does not apply to license transfers, so you wouldn't be able to ask for a refund if Lumion isn't a good fit for your workflow/pipeline. If you're still on the fence, I would recommend checking out our 7-day Lumion 8.3 Pro Trial version to be sure:

Knowledge Base article: Is there a Trial version of Lumion? (https://forum.lumion3d.com/index.php?action=kb;area=article;cont=971)

Let us know if you've got any other questions.

Trail version for Lumion 8 Pro would be no good for me because all the features are already there, may i try Lumion Standard 8 for a trial?
Title: Re: [Awaiting Replies] Lumion license for sale
Post by: Morten on June 05, 2018, 04:30:16 pm
Sadly we don't offer a 'Lumion 8 (Standard) Trial' version, so you'd have to test the 'Lumion 8 Pro Trial' version and mentally "subtract" features based on the specifications page.

It's obviously not ideal but it's better than nothing.

Sorry about the inconvenience. :-\

Morten,
Does Lumion 8 Standard share the same interface as the Pro version, i.e does it have the ready-made scenes of the exterior house of Mies Van De Rohe and the interior scenes as well...etc,?

Hi Ahmed, congrats on buying the license - we're looking forward to welcoming you in the much bigger forum for commercial users once you have registered your new license on your forum profile page.

My colleagues Corine and Patricia will organise the transfer early next week.

We'll keep you posted. :)

Thank you for your reply, good to be in touch with you too, its a pity that I have to wait till next week :( I was hoping to receive it today. Didn't know it requires a lot of time to transfer the license.

CAn you send me a trial link of L8?

Didn't know it requires a lot of time to transfer the license.

It's because the license transfer request is in a queue and the weekend is (almost) upon us, so if they don't get to this task today, it will have to happen when they resume work next week.

Sorry about the delay - I realise it would be great to get started right away. :)

CAn you send me a trial link of L8?

I can't issue Trial versions but our resellers can. Please click on the following link and follow the instructions.

Knowledge Base article: Is there a Trial version of Lumion? (https://forum.lumion3d.com/index.php?action=kb;area=article;cont=971)

Feel free to refer them to this topic, so they know it's a temporary license before you get your own commercial license.

By the way, while you're waiting, we might as well prepare your computer for Lumion.

To get started, I'd be grateful if you could follow these instructions, so we can verify that your computer is 100% ready:

2. Type in "DXDiag":

3. Click the button 'Run 64-bit DxDiag' (if this button is shown) and wait for it to restart.

4. DirectX will run the report and display the following window:

Is the 3dconnexion 3d mouse compatible with Lumion?
Title: Re: [Sold] Lumion license for sale
Post by: Morten on June 08, 2018, 05:24:09 pm
Computer 1:

1. This laptop is ideal for Lumion with the i7-7820HK, GTX 1080 and 32 GB system memory, and you can expect to be able to work on very complex scenes.

2. Lumion will save imported models and other data in 'Documents\Lumion 8.0', so you might want to consider moving the Documents folder to the D: drive to free up space on your small SSD C: drive.

The instructions are available in the 'How to Change the My Documents Folder Storage Location' section in the following article:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/help/310746/configuration-of-the-my-documents-folder

3. The Nvidia driver for the GTX 1080 is just under a year old and should be updated.
Please click here to download 'Geforce Experience' which will automatically install the latest driver and keep it up to date:
https://www.geforce.com/geforce-experience/download

Then uninstall your existing Nvidia driver via the 'Add or remove programs' function in Windows, restart the PC and install Geforce Experience.

No, it's not.

Thanks for the information about the Lap Top

3d Connection: oh nooo, why :( it s the best interface to use it in Lumion, that's really sad news, is there any reason for this?

3d Connection: oh nooo, why :( it s the best interface to use it in Lumion, that's really sad news, is there any reason for this?

Some years ago, certain 3D Connexion devices with certain drivers did work but 3D Connexion then changed their drivers.

Our developers decided that they don't want to divert resources and manpower away from the development of Lumion, and it would take too much time to add support for all the different 3D Connexion devices and the different driver versions (some 3D Connexion devices are even "abandonware", i.e. no longer receive driver updates).

Sorry about that.

Thanks for your reply, can you please give me a review on the Dell Desktop ( Computer 2)

Yes, I was trying to write it inbetween the other posts about 3D Connexion devices.

Computer 2:

1. This desktop PC is indeed starting to show its age with the i7-2600, GTX 550 Ti and 16 GB system memory.

2. The Nvidia GTX 550 Ti is too weak to run Lumion. Given the fact that the rest of the components are quite old, I'm not sure if I would recommend that you upgrade the graphics card - or sell it for parts at some point and invest in a new computer.

If you do want to explore the possibilities if upgrading your graphics card, we'd need to know which power supply you've got (brand/product name and the Wattage). The reason is that not all power supplies are created equal, and you'd need a quality unit to be able to power high-end graphics cards.

3. Lumion will save imported models and other data in 'Documents\Lumion 8.0', so just like on your laptop you might want to consider moving the Documents folder to the D: drive to free up space on your small SSD C: drive. See the instructions in my previous post.

Hope this helps. :)

I really want to thank you on your prompt replies :), is the support center working 24/7

Do I get a free update to Lumion 9? Because I just got the license, I think it will be released soon right?

No, only Monday to Friday.

We try to have a life at weekends but do have to deal with occasional emergencies. :)

Do I get a free update to Lumion 9?

No, the annual upgrades incur an upgrade fee of about 33% of the price of a full license.

However, you don't have to upgrade and your license will remain valid forever.

If you do decide to upgrade your Lumion 8 license to Lumion 9 when it's released, you would get free updates until Lumion 10 is released.

I think it will be released soon right?

No, it will be released in quarter 4 this year. The past few years it was released during the 1st or 2nd week of November, so if that's the case again this year, there's about half a year to go. :)

I see all the good features are stripped off from the standard version and for a freelancer it is very expensive to but the full version , nevertheless to keep update with the new version every year.
Please consider adding a monthly subscription as a option

Companies like: Autodesk, Chaos Group and Enscape are already doing that

Thanks for the suggestion, Ahmed.

If you know a couple of other freelancers, you could consider setting up a small co-operative, so that you share the license between you to cover the cost. This set-up works best if you team up with somebody in a different time zone, so that there's minimal overlap.

Please try to raise this request to your upper management. It's going to be very difficult to share a license. You never know, at one time you might have a lot of work and the other doesn't. Also, at one point you might want to sell your license and the other doesn't and so on.... many many problems might arise.

I think if you activate this option, even many fresh grads might be encouraged to invest in it.

Hi Ahmed, thanks for the additional feedback. My colleagues discussed this subject on several occasions over the past few years but decided against a subscription model. That doesn't mean it might never happen but for the time being, this is where we're at.
