Title: Recover a quicksave file?
Post by: nicosbo on June 06, 2014, 05:50:46 pm
Hello everyone. I had a simple but big, big problem. Working on a project, I was making quicksaves (pressing F5), depending only on that quicksave file. Then, started a new project, and making the same thing, I overwrote the previous project files. So... can I recover them from somewhere in my PC??, i'm freaking out here.

Many thanks in advance.

Unfortunately you might not be able to, but there is a slim chance.

Which version of Lumion are you using?

When a project is closed, and Lumion is still running, an AutoSave copy is made.  Check the thumbnail list in the Load Scenes tab to see if that copy is still available.

It may not be if you have gone from your most recent new project to some other or empty scene, as the AutoSave will then be the most recently closed scene.

The only other option is that you do have your own backup system or that Windows File History is On and tracking changed files.

Bit late to say, but: Always use Save and SaveAs to store projects.  QuickSave is only for an interim copy between saving.

First, i'm sorry that i didn't saw your response. No mail warn me about it.
So, thank you peterm. Looking around figure out that this is like a quicksave on a game. And in this case in particular, in the way that you open other different projects, the list of quicksaves (or saves-on-quit list) goes updating, overwriting the recent ones! so I only can search for a file lost somewhere in my PC (like you said, about history files of windows) The other way (a very mean one) is to start over.

I'm using 4.0.2
