Title: Lumion Demo too Lumion Ultimate?
Post by: billet323 on October 21, 2011, 05:22:59 pm
Hello,

I did a few videos while i had Lumion Free to get a feel and decide if i wanted to purchase.  Now that i have Lumion Ultimate i would like to convert the videos from the Demo version (720 hd & corner logo) to a full HD and no logo video.

I went into my free lumion folder and transfered all of the files over to the ultimate folder and Lumion stops working everytime i try to open any of the files i created in the free version.  Have i lost these video files?

Thanks,

Regular folks can't transfer from Lumion Free to Lumion Ultimate.

Perhaps they have a work-around for you?

You might want to email them personally.
Maybe you can send them some files and they can convert it back over for you.
I don't know.  Worth a try.

Thanks again, i appreciate your help.  There is one video in particular that I would like to rerun in the full version rather than recreating the whole thing again...

Yes, this is a common practice with "demos" or "free versions" similar to this solution. If this were not the case, a whole office could have like 10 free seats of folks preparing the scenes and all and just one machine (with purchased license) rendering them to final product (or maybe adding stuff not in the free version).

I can understand the limitation but in case of "trusted" customers, I think they can help.

I certainly understand the reasoning behind it.  Im not sure how to build credibility, but Its only one video that I would like to have the ability to bring up to speed.  But again, if not I understand and will redo.

I guess that a "well known forum member" like you in the past weeks/months would have that credibility. Especially that we all saw that you really wanted to make sure and used the free eval version until you were convinced.

So it is now up to the developers to also recognise it. And of course, it's only if the can do it...

I don't think you have lost them. Unfortunately the file format between the free and commercial versions are not compatible. The reason for this is that people started using the free version and then simply bought a single commercial license to render out the final images.

Thank you for your reply Remko, I understand your reasoning 100% I was only interested in the one video that i did with the free version.  Please let me know if there isnt anything that can be done so I can proceed redoing the video.

thanks, and again I understand why these measures have been implemented.
