Title: Reflections in the sea
Post by: Noire on October 12, 2011, 01:28:08 pm
SkyCity test 720p one more building (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WQXFrMTx7Po#ws)
here's video, as you can see there's reflection of the rocks near horizon...is that right? and how to fix that?

All reflections use a cube map that's generated at the viewers position. This explains the rocks. To fix it you can either change the position of the cube map or leave out some objects. There's a movie effect for this.

How to change the position of the cube map? And about what effect do you say? Can you make some screenshots where to look, pls.

OT (sorry): extremely cool model! Wish to see it when everything is textured (will you "finish" it?).

You need to apply a "Reflection control" effect to your clip in Movie mode.

If you want the reflections to use a custom reflection point you need to select "Custom Position" and click on "Set reflection point". Move the camera to the position in your scene that you would like to use for the 360 degree reflection map, and click on "Back" to confirm the position.

Bear in mind that you need to render a video clip in 2 or 3-star mode to get the reflection map to be updated every frame.

There's more information about reflections here:

I don't know how it works for users of the Free version - maybe it doesn't. But I know what you mean, thanks. ;)

As for the audio swap on YT: yes, true, it seems that you cannot completely remove it. Too bad as I have also screwed some of my videos with audio and I wish there weren't anything at all instead...

(write me pls how reputation system is working? can't see "-" or "+" or something like that)

Reputation works based on weather  :D, if it is cold starts low and goes to minus  :-\ and if starts up warming goes plus :-D.
I never understood because I tried the whole weather conditions })

what's the best choiсe for SU(modelling)+Lumion(Rendering)
1.Zotac GeForce GTX 560 2048MB
2.HIS AMD Radeon HD6950 IceQ X Turbo 2048MB
3.MSI GeForce GTX 560 Ti 2048MB

hello,

i work with the zotac 570 1250gb. before i test nvidia quadro600 1000gb. the differenz is the among of stream prozessors. quadro600 96 streamproz same scene 5 fps againgst zotac 570 480 stream proz same scene 45 fps. more stream proz is more speed in lumion.

lock for ZOTAC GeForce GTX560 Ti 448 Cores.

or if you want let us test your scene in the forum there are many users with all card you can get everywhere.

in SU i work with 120000 kb files put that is the limit is slow if su make a backup. i tiles the projekts in 3 or 5 parts best size 25000 kb for speed working. the files from su for speed workinkg is the best on ssd sata6 with 550 read/515 write. SU its only problems with the amount of filesize not with the graphik.

picture my lian li selfmade windows 7 64bit mini atx with 16gb ram 120 ssd sata600  i72600k and zotac gtx570. its made for travel and for presentation. only 3,5 kg and B/T/H 21/21/35 cm. benchcase open for airport dynamite securecontrol. normal i take watercoolingsystem but it is not allowed as hand baggage, too mutch liquid.

thx for that reply. now i'm searching GTX560Ti, and i have to options in my city
1. MSI GTX 560 Ti 2048MB 256Bit GDDR5
2. EVGA GTX 560Ti 2048MB 256Bit GDDR5
3. EVGA GTX 560Ti 448Cores 1280Mb 320Bit GDDR5
what's better - 560Ti with 2Gb ram or 560Ti 448Cores with 1.28Gb ram? MSI or EVGA?

Hello Noire

I wore a GTX 465 (1GB), was very good but like I needed more speed and memory, switched to a GTX 580 (3BG)

With the GTX 465, sometimes I had to work in low memory mode of Lumion.

if you could afford to buy choose a gtx 580 3gb. it will make lumion much more enjoyable for you !
Title: Re: Reflections in the sea
Post by: Noire on March 02, 2012, 12:30:32 pm
gtx580 3Gb will be great...yeah...but that city project is only for me. this isn't a work and have no time limit. i think about GTX560Ti 2Gb / HD6950 2Gb / GTX570 1.3Gb
and what would be better? 2Gb 256bit or 1.3Gb 320bit
gtx580 3Gb to expensive for home use  :-D

2Gb 256bit or 1.3Gb 320bit

I'd answer that question if I knew the answer, but unfortunately I don't.

My opinion:

In this case you should make choice of the board that has more memory. At least she will not give error, but will take slightly longer to process.

hi,

take the gtx570 1250gb its the like my in germany you get it for 299€ or with 2450gb for 345€

the gtx560ti 448 core 1250gb its a little slower in germany 250€

i work with the gtx570 1250gb really big scene and its ok, look the scene there are 5 buildings more inside the same scene.

here's some additional screenshots...model grows tooooo huge even for GTX570. i think it's right time to start working with layers. i've got 12 seconds per frame when rendering 720p movie (3 stars and no effects) - so, no movie for now  ::) if anyone interested

Amazing models.

Don't worry about the FPS readout when rendering, it will be what it will be,  I have rendered at 1 FPS and it still renders, in fact I generally turn that readout off now, so long as I can work in the scene then that's all that matters.

If it's a question of overall time, it's best gauged by doing a sample render test once all your scene and effects etc are done and you are ready to render, for approx 2 seconds rather than looking at the FPS, with using 2star for test/review (or in some cases that's good enough for render).

good advice...never think about that. damn, i'm working with 4 stars in Build Mode, but i can work with less quality
