Title: fence material
Post by: Rodnez on September 11, 2011, 06:32:24 pm
Hi people, i was wondering how to simulate a chain fence with lumion. In vray for sketchup i use two materials, the chain material and the alpha channel but i tried to do the same thing with lumion but i can´t get the transparency effect . Does someone know how to do it?
Thanks in advance.

Wait, so if I import a fence or other transparent, material from Sketchup, it will hold it's transparency in Lumion? If this is the case, can you replace the maps and use anything else?

Hi Rodnez

Here there is a png map i´ve made to do exactly what you mean... ;)

The download link is:

At Lumions interface, assign a standard material and set the "Reflection or Clip" at  1 and it will do the job...

Hope will be usefull

Do the shadows follow the transparency if something's not completely transparent?  Do you get a semi-transparent shadow or is there just no shadow where an object isn't full transparent?

Lumion currently only uses 1-bit alpha, so greyscale values below 0.5 are 100% transparent whereas values above 0.5 are 100% opaque. The same thing applies to shadows from objects that use alpha channels.
