How it works:

1. model the shape of the water (stream, waterfall, whatever)
2. Export
3. Import into Lumion and place it
4. Modify materials in Lumion
5. Click + sign to add a material
6. Click on the waterfall shape
7. Select "Waterfall" material type

Are you sure we can test waterfall effect in Free version ? Because i dont see any "Waterfall" material. I'm using Lumion SP2 Beta5. As you can see in the attached picture, I only have water material.  |:(

Well, after almost 4 hours of trying to make a waterfall and searching through forum, i found this... http://lumion3d.com/forum/index.php?topic=1720.0 (http://lumion3d.com/forum/index.php?topic=1720.0).
It's really not clear what's in the free version and what's not in the free version.

First of all, i've downloaded the free version which is called "FreeLumion_Sp2_B5.exe". After installing it, in settings, I see Lumion Free 1.0 / Service Pack 2 / Build 4. So it's Build4 or Build5

Secondo, in settings, i see "Plugins - Ultimate" and all dots are green. Maybe you should change them another color because we don't have all the plugins available.

Tertio, you should modify you web page and instead of saying "Limited, Need plugin, or a dot" you should write down exactly what's available in that version.

Environment and weather plug-in
1 x Ocean with waves slider, turbidity, colour etc
1 x Waterfall material

Would become (For free version)
Waterfall material not available in free version
or maybe this way...
Free version only contain Ocean plug-in

This will make everyone save a lot of time...

By the way, very nice software  ;)

I now have Lumion Basic and assume I can use the Oceans water and turn it 90 degrees to make a waterfall effect, just as this person who posted the jpg has tried to do.

Sorry, not at my Lumion installed computer right now to try....

The Ocean and Waterfall material are not included in Lumion Basic.
They're part of the Environment & Weather plug-in:
http://lumion3d.com/specs/ (http://lumion3d.com/specs/)

For the competition, you can however combine the features of Lumion FREE with Lumion Basic and get the best of both worlds (this only includes the Ocean though, not the Waterfall material):

Hi Morten,

This is great news.  I have two projects I am working on for the Competition, and the Oceans simulator is very useful for the second project.  Combining the two for the competition sounds great indeed.

Many thanks.

I think from memory there's more of a detailed tutorial from a user that did a waterfall somewhere in the forum, please search

Free version does not include the Waterfall material (just the Ocean, but you can make some amazing ocean scenes.  :)

You need to import a sloping surface and then apply the Waterfall material to it. The amount of foam and the velocity are automatically adjusted depending on the angle of the slope.
