Title: Custom Terrain Textrues
Post by: dsmelcer1234 on July 19, 2011, 03:38:34 pm
Is it possible to change the four textures to something different. None of the presets have what I want. Unless there is a way, right now I have to build my backdrop terrain in sketchup for no other reason then to put a custom texture on it. It is a shame when we have all these great terrain sculpting features in lumion but no way to put any good textures on it AFAIK. I don't need a rock mountain, nor do i need rolling lime green pastures as far as the eye can see, and I don't want to bloat my model with trees that is on a hill a mile away. Any ideas?

I haven't tried it, but a skydome with alpha channel might work, or just a cylinder with alpha channel.

dsmelcer1234 - no we can't change the terrain textures beyond what is included.

Several people have asked to have the ability to change the ground textures to one of their choosing.   At this point in time the route you are taking with your own textures on imported geometry is the only way to get that customized look you are going after.

I too have asked the Lumion team to open up the software a bit more for customization.
Guess we will just have to see how it goes.

cpercer's suggestion of a cylinder with an alpha channel does work for trees in the background - but then again your bloating up the scene with additional geometry and textures.

Yes, it has been already requested by many (including me) and hopefull one day we'll have the possibility to paint the terrain with other than the built in 4 for each terrain type.

I would not go for a sky dome for such quite close things but for farther background, that would also be ideal.
