Title: Is this Laptop good enough for Lumion? Renders / Architecture
Post by: piper76 on September 02, 2016, 10:57:48 pm
Hi everybody :)

I'm thinking about buying a new laptop only for Lumion (mainly for rendering architecural models from Revit). What I really wanna know is if the Video Card (is not an Nvidia, it's an AMD RAEDON 4GB) is good enough, thanks :)

Hi piper76

Thank you for your interest in using Lumion.

Unfortunately, the graphics card is well below minimum requirements for Lumion.  :(

The (R5?) M335 has a Passmark of only 546, and Lumion requires a minimum of 2000.

Thee CPU with a Passmark of 4326 is also well below minimum requirements of 6000.

Be aware that laptop graphics cards have about half the power of their equivalent produce for desktop (excluding the GTX 980/1080).  So, if mobility is not completely essential, you will get best performance for budget by purchasing a desktop PC.

If a laptop is essential, then only the top range of cards is worth considering, that is the GTX 970M (minimum) or 980M or 980, or one of the new GTX 10 series: GTX 1060 (minimum), 1070 or 1080.

NVIDIA GTX cards tend to out-perform similar AMD Radeon cards.
