Title: 4gb graphic card or 2gb graphic card?
Post by: sreejithkini on June 03, 2016, 05:22:07 pm
I am planning to buy a laptop which has nvidia geforce 940m graphics and i5 6th gen processor. My question is if I should go for 4gb graphic or 2 gb graphic to run lumion efficiently. Because in some forums it is written that there is no use of 4gb if you are using a single monitor.

But lumion recommends 4gb of graphic memory. So I am confused which one I should go for

Hi sreejithkini, that information is wrong.

Graphics card memory is used for storing models and textures in Lumion, so the more you have, the better.

By the way, the 940M is unsuitable for Lumion - please see this Knowledge Base article (https://support.lumion.com/hc/en-us/articles/360003476753-Which-graphics-card-do-you-need-) for more information.

But is gt 940m graphics capable of handling and using 4gb graphics? As much as I have read, games can't use that extra GB. How does lumion perform in this case?

Lumion will use all of the 4GB memory.

Regarding the performance of the 940M, you'll need to read the Knowledge Base article in my previous reply as this graphics card does not meet the minimum requirements.
