Title: Recommended CPU processor for Lumion
Post by: kkeller on February 25, 2014, 10:12:43 pm
The Minimum and Recommended Hardware Requirements mention nothing about CPU processors; only RAM and Graphics Card. However a test running on a machine with Lumion denotes a "low" rating for processor speed.
Can someone from Lumion please reply with suggested minimum and recommended processor requirements?

Thank you in advance.

Hi kkeller, that depends on what sort of graphics card you are using.

Regarding CPU clock frequencies, all that really matters is that the CPU is fast enough to deliver data to the graphics card.

In Lumion, the CPU mainly affects the framerate in Build mode (and Movie previews); if it can't deliver data to the graphics card fast enough it may become a bottleneck.

However, the CPU has a smaller impact on render times as it's mainly used for compressing videos/images.

The ideal PC is one where the CPU and the graphics card are perfectly matched, so that neither of them act as a bottleneck for the other.

In practice, most modern CPUs are usually fast enough to deliver data to the graphics card, and you would only need to upgrade your CPU if your graphics card doesn't get as high a score as the scores of other users with the same graphics card.

Would you mind posting your benchmark results and the full specifications of your graphics card (brand, model, onboard memory), so we can compare them to existing scores?
