Title: Stereoscopic videos in lumion?
Post by: Ness on January 26, 2016, 04:25:09 pm
Hi, can Lumion create stereoscopic videos?

Hi Ness, yes - Lumion can export side-by-side stereoscopic images/videos.

Side-by-side stereoscopic output means that the rendering is divided into two halves, a left view and a right view, each occupying one-half of the original display area.

In other words, on a 2560x1440 rendering, the 'left eye' image is squashed so that it occupies the leftmost 1280 pixels of the 2560x1440 image, and the 'right eye' image occupies the rightmost 1280 pixels:

Some 3D TVs can convert the side-by-side format videos to 3D whereas others require a conversion procedure. YouTube also has a dedicated side-by-side 3D stereoscopic option when you upload a video.

Hi Morten - Could you explain or direct me to a walk-through of the workflow for exporting 3D videos into a stereoscopic format?

Thanks
F5

Hi Fleventyfive, sure, no problem. Which version of Lumion are you using?

We're using it at work, and we all share one license. Can multiple forum users register the same commercial license--or do we all have to share a forum username?

Hi Fleventyfive, yes, multiple forum users can register a single license - this is also mentioned in the link I posted above.

(Hi dimitris, your question was moved to a new thread (https://forum.lumion3d.com/index.php?topic=124311.0) in the commercial users' section of the forum)

Splendid. I need to get the info and register the license. Then, I will return for the walk-through.

Meanwhile, could you please tell me where I can find more information about exporting panoramas from Lumion?

Thanks
F5

Hi F5, MyLumion has its own mode, and all you need to do is to save some camera viewpoints, name the viewpoints (optional), name the MyLumion project title and description (optional), enter an email that you want the link to be sent to and start rendering the panoramas.

Once rendering has completed, the panoramas will be uploaded to mylumion.com, so that they can be viewed by anyone with a PC, Mac, smartphone or tablet (who has access to the link obviously). I should mention that it's not possible to export panorama images for use outside mylumion.com.

There's more information on mylumion.com (http://mylumion.com), for example this demonstration video:

Thanks Mort.

So, is MyLumion still in beta?

I see here http://mylumion.com/faq.html (http://mylumion.com/faq.html) it's JS/Web GL, so are videos rendered to MyLumion available as HTML objects using the link it creates?

Thanks
F5

Hi F5 - yes, MyLumion is still in beta, and no, we're using a proprietary Java panorama player which is hosted on mylumion.com, so unfortunately you can't view your MyLumion panoramas by embedding them on other websites (if that's what you mean).

P.S. MyLumion renders static panoramas, not videos.
