Title: Dark Corners
Post by: jaustin on August 27, 2013, 05:08:19 pm
Hi All,

I am having a problem with internal corners.

Not only have I found it impossible to create white materials (even at 255,255,255 they still appear grey), when ever I take a photo/internal render, where the wall meets the floor and ceiling, I get a very thick dark line. I've checked the model over and over and there are no gaps, the wall always meets the ceiling as you would expect.

Please help   :+

Try adjusting saturation & emissiveness to get the material to white.

Have you set any interior lights? Proper interior lighting really helps.

If so, try using the Shadow effect to adjust things to your liking.

Hi jaustin

Which Lumion are you using?

For the corners between walls and ceilings, that's the Ambient shadow (sometimes known as SSAO), and is controlled by the three Ambient sliders in the Shadow Effect.

The amount of grey over white materials is the result of the shadows for the interior, it's affected by the amount of sun light, ambient light, number of lights added to the interior, and any GI used.

Interior ceilings do tend be a bit dark, and a little emissive on the material will whiten it, as a quick way to account for some more ambient light.

If needed you can also add some further light to interiors (excluding use of GI) by adding one or two Fill Lights.
