Title: Lost Shadows
Post by: Ken on July 07, 2015, 07:31:19 am
Hi,
I am on a trial version of Lumion. I am at it for a few days and already having some good results. However, I am
setting up a light over a glass table with chairs. It creates beautiful shadows when I adjust the light in "Edit Properties", but when I am finished and deselect the blue dot and cone that indicates the selection, I lose all of
the shadows and only a light remains cast on the floor but no shadow from the chairs.

What step am I missing here. Your help is greatly appreciated.

Ken

Hi Ken, welcome to the forum :)

The reason that the shadows are only shown when the spotlight is selected is that it will affect performance (and/or graphics card memory usage) if the shadows are displayed all the time. Once you render a clip or an image the shadows will appear again.

There are however two ways to (temporarily) preview the spotlight shadows while editing your scene:

1) Hold down the F8 key in any mode (Build/Photo/Movie mode)
2) Add a Global Illumination effect in Photo or Movie mode and turn the "Preview Spotlight GI and shadows" toggle button on. Then click on the "Build with effects" button in the top left corner to go to Build mode with all effects on.
