What is the difference between a 'Clip' and 'Entire Movie'?

The Entire Movie stores effects applying to all clips.

You can apply an Effect to a single clip, or to the Entire Movie.

'Entire Movie' is selected by clicking on the large button in the lower left corner of the screen in Movie Mode.  If a new Movie Effect is applied while 'Entire Movie' is selected, this effect will apply to all clips in your movie.

The exception to this rule is if you have also applied the same Movie Effect to one of your clips. In this case, the effect in the clip will override the effect that is used in the Entire Movie.

There are a few Effects that can only be applied to a clip, for example in V8 Layer Visibility and Variation Control, in V7 and above Wind.  Sound can only be applied to the Entire Movie and not in a clip.
