im wondering if i can run lumion (on bootcamp or parallel) on the new macbook pro

here are the specs

im also between the new razor blade and the macbook pro, i really like the macbook pro but if u consider as an extreme option i should get the razer, please let me now (other reason than price)

Which version of Lumion are you using? Lumion 6.0 Pro? (This is displayed on the Settings screen)

In any case, your question is easily answered.

If you go to the PassMark website and compare the scores of the AMD Radeon RX 460 with the Nvidia GTX 1060, you'll notice that the GTX 1060 gets more than twice as many points (8975 points) as the RX 460 (4304 points).

In other words, performance and render times in Lumion will be much better if you were to opt for the Razer laptop.

No.  The Passmark for the GTX 960M is only 1917.  Now although that is getting close to the minimum specification, it is still below requirements and we would not recommend using it.

You are best to look at a laptop that have one of the new GTX 1000 series cards, or at the least a GTX 970M (for basic simple scenes) or a GTX 980M from the prior 900 series.

Have a look for laptops from manufacturers that provide performance based laptops for the gaming market.  Those include Alienware, MSI, and ASUS.

Hey Petern!

I know you dont recommend mac for lumion but... i just realized i had on my iMac a GeForce 775M 2GB GPU.. and im wondering if... lumion will work (for simple scenes) in a windows part of the computer?

The GeForce GTX 775M has a Passmark of 4193 so that is above our minimum recommendations, and it also has 2GB of memory.  So for simple scenes, yes that in itself sounds OK. The GTX

The 8GB of RAM is minimum required.

Lumion will run only if Bootcamp is installed on the iMac, see FAQ.

Which model do you have?

If you already have Windows installed, then attach to a post the Windows Diagnostics Report, and we can review hardware specifications.  Refer our Knowledge Base Article: How do you attach a diagnostics report to a post?

Please also note that Lumion 6.5 and newer will only work correctly if all Windows updates are installed as well as the latest Nvidia driver version.

Bootcamp rarely includes a new Nvidia driver, so you may want to google if anybody else has managed to replace the Bootcamp driver for the 775M with a newer official Nvidia driver.
