From your description I would say you don't have to use the Advanced Anim features, Basic Anim will do as its only a move and a rotate type anim.
There's a few tutorials done by users on the forum on how to do that, including some done by Blendman.
The key aspect is whether you need to have 1 or more clips. If you try to do it in 1 clip then that might work fine, but all basic animations are scaled to the length of the clip to make it easy to simply put the motion without the need for anything else.
In Advanced you have a time factor (max 30 seconds per clip (has been commented on)), so any animation may automatically loop where the time of the keyframes is less than the clip length. Which is OK for some situations, or does not matter if the camera does not take that element into view after its initial animation.
Are you able to use more than 1 clip as that will make things easier?
