Hi Lumions,
I had been using Lumion for still renderings and until right now, I am working on my first video animation with Lumion.  There is a lot to learn and a lot of effects and functionality to be explore with the software, can' t wait for the release of Lumion 3, since it looks more user friendly than 2.5.

One big problem that I am experiencing is the video editing after render a HD clip in Lumion. I am using adobe premiere elements for video post processing trying to incorporate music, text, effects and transitions but I notice a huge drop of resolution when I saved and export the movie. The movie pixelate and loose all the HD qualities.I also notice that I can' t transfer the raw HD clip render in Lumion to my Ipad for presentations, I thought Ipads read mp4 without a problem. i look on the FAQS and search on this forum but cant find much information that can help me regarding this matter.

I was wondering if I can get some assistance from all you experienced professionals so i get some guidance in this matter. I am a newbee in this realm of animation and video editing but I am training in order to get to the level all those amazing videos that you guys post in this forum, that by the way the are looking better and better everyday.. :D

questions and suggestions:
1. suggestions on what editng software should I use...... which is the most commonly use in the industry?
2. anyone with a step by step to tutorial or tips on how to video editing a complete movie after render a HD movie clip in lumion ?
3. explanation on different formats fullHd,mp4, mov, image sequence, etc? when i render in Lumion,it provides me with the option to save the movie clip to mp4 or image sequence? which one should I choose? what is the difference between both? what does people use the most?
4. how to export raw lumion clips to an ipad 3? itunes and ipad do not read nor recognize lumion's raw render clips...

for the moment that is all my questions, I know is a lot, but I know there are people out there that can provide some assistance to a fellow Lumionastic, all of you had been in my position one time in your life ???. I want to extend my gratitude in advanced for your guidance and help in this matter and in more to come.

thanks

you better render the movies as image sequences ! ( i take png because its lossless )
i think you can import these image sequences to premiere elements. ( i am using adobe premiere so i dont know exactly) i would recommend to buy a complete adobe design suite for maximal value !

now your input material is lossless instead of having an already compressed movie format.
and you can control the loss of the video by the codec you use to render the clip.

hope this helps ...

Also, to avoid pixelation, make sure that you set up the project resolution and framerate in Adobe Premiere Elements, so that they match both of those in Lumion (e.g. 1920x1080 or 1280x720 at 30 frames per second).

Here's how to do that in Elements:

To play it on the iPad, try re-compressing it with Handbrake. It's free:
http://handbrake.fr/
In Handbrake, just select the setting called "iPad".

For your video editing problems, it's best to ask for help in the forum of the video editing software you use.

Thank you guys for all these tips.

I just render the animation with image sequences. it saves the images as jpeg.

Questions:

1. How can I save the images as png in Lumion as Stucki mentioned in his post : "you better render the movies as image sequences ! ( i take png because its lossless )"

2. How can I assemble the video with all those images to create one video clip, is there any software that compile the images into a video ???

thanks again!!

if you click on save full hd windows opens the save-dialog.
there you can choose the file-format.
jpg is standard, click on it and you can choose between several options.

hope this helps ..

got it!! got the png working and i have video clip in my ipad using the converter.

the only thing pending is :

1. How can I assemble the video with all those images to create one video clip, is there any software that compile the images into a 1 video, do I need to import the sequence of images one by one into premiere's timeline?

which NTSC presets should I use for lumion clips : AVCHD, DV, HDV, HARD DISK, ETC.... SINCE: "Because you can’t change the project preset after starting a project, verify the format of your source footage before selecting a project preset....FROM ADOBE HELP ARTICLE"

THANKS AGAIN!!

if i import a sequence in premiere pro i choose the first png image and than there is a box you can activate for import whole sequence or something like that.
dont know if elements has this feature.

but you should try to insert the sequence in your video editor, because if you make a movie from it first you just get compression with it ...

Hi Stucki, Thanks for the tip. It works exactly like the PRO version. Select the first image and then follow the following procedure: http://www.animationsforvideo.com/html/imptsapp.htm

thanks for your guidance

For some time I have tried all the recommended formats and found online, and finally the one better has been the Vimeo recommendations by H264. Here is the link. Greetings.

Make sure you've got the right parameters in premiere, so you won't lost resolution.
For a project exported from lumion as .mp4 in 1280*720 30frames/s, you can choose those options :
 - Start a new project ->
 - Edit you video
 - Export as a media ->

I use those setting and don't lost resolution.

If you want to work with png files, keep the same setting, then import all your .png in premiere -->select all --> right clik on one --> speed/lenght (not sure this is the same words in english, but that's where you choose the lenght of each .png file) --> put on the minimum (0.001) and move all your png in you editor screen, then export,....

Hope it'll help you
