I have a file that is around 180,000 kb and uploading this fie in lumion takes really long time, some times doesn't show the files and I have to start all over again, my question is if there is a limit to export a file to Lumion?

Thanks

Farid

Hi Farid

Welcome.

You have posted your question in the board for Customer Portfolios.  We have boards specifically for import/export questions.

1. What version of Lumion are you using?
2. What version of SketchUp are you using?

Hello Peter, I have installed the 7.5 version (this is the trial version for Lumion) I really like it but to honest, I haven't used the software because of the size of the file and for Sketchup, I am using Sketchup 2018 version.

Thanks
Farid

Hi Farid

Thanks for the replies.  I have moved this topic to our Lumion Trial Board.

A 180MB for a SketchUp file is quite large.  But Lumion should be able to import from it with little problem, unless it also contains many replicated/instanced components or groups.  If that's the case, then it will take longer to convert and optimize the model, as all parts of the SketchUp model need to be converted to polygons.

1. How long is it taking to import to Lumion?
2. Are you importing the .skp file directly?

There could also be a few other reasons why the file takes a long time to import, including the specifications of your  PC.  If you attach the following report we can review how well your hardware meets Lumion specifications.  Lumion Diagnostics (DXDiag) Report. Refer our Knowledge Base Article: How do you attach a diagnostics report to a post?

Also, are you aware there is a newer V8.5 Pro Trial available?  See Is there a Trial version of Lumion?  Apart from the new and enhanced features since v7.5 in Lumion, it also includes the new LiveSync for SketchUp import features.

You are also welcome to send us your SketchUp and LS7 file so we can advise if, and what needs to be done to improve import times.

For example importing parts of the model so that Reloads are being done at maximum efficiency.

If you want to proceed with that option, please upload the files to a file host, e.g. WeTransfer.com, and forward the download link to uploads[at]lumion.com (replace [at] with @).

Thanks in advance.

Hello Peter.
Thanks for replay me back and I really want to apologize for taking me long time to replay  to you back. I have to spent a little more time with the Sketchup model until finally find the issue and made it to transferring the file to Lumion but I have another question about Lumion, the version that I have is 7.5 trial version and following your email I would like to have the last version so I can work at the same time in sketchup.

2. Second question that I have is if there is a way to do payments for these software because I am been learning but until today is the last day using this software and it is not enough time to keep learning because of the time and schedule at work and my classes at college.

3. If there is another way to keep using this software (like a month more) and having more tips in how to improve more the skills, I really appreciate and if not, please let me know if there will be a way in how to do monthly payments.

Thanks for your help

Hi Farid Pena

No problem.  Good to hear you were able to resolve the SketchUp problem yourself.

1. re access to Lumion 8 (Pro) Trial:
You need to contact your local reseller as per the link provided earlier in this article: See Is there a Trial version of Lumion?. Note that is for evaluation for purchase and strictly limited to 7 days.

Is there one listed for your country?

It is possible to apply again for the 7 day Trial here.

2. and 3.:
Are you a student?  Is your college teaching architecture?  If so then Lumion might be available for your college.  See Is there an educational or student version of Lumion?

Please forward your questions about payments in first instance to your local reseller, else to my colleagues at our man office: sales [at] act-3d.com (Replace [at] with @).
