Hi,

I have downloaded and used the 8.5 trial version from a local reseller.
It has now expired, but am looking at purchasing when the new version (V9) gets released soon.
When I purchase Lumion9pro, am I still able to use the V8.5pro if I choose too under my 9 licence?

Hi psimun, Lumion is forward compatible, so you'll be able to load Lumion 8.5 Scene files in 9.0. in other words, you won't really need version 8.5.

However, if you pre-order version 9.0 before it is released (once this option is available), you'll get Lumion 8.5 in the interim period before the release of 9.0. And yes, you'd be able to use Lumion 8.5 after 9.0 is released - just not at the same time (as they use the same License Key).

Hi Peter, Lumion 6.0, 7.0 and 8.0 were released in early November but there's not yet any official announcements about Lumion 9.0.

You'll receive a newsletter via email when there's news though.

Just a side note, and see you also asked another member about hardware in Finished Projects re GTX 1080 Ti.

Your current graphics card has a PassMark of 4005, so expect only to be able to work with Simple Scenes in Lumion.  See our Knowledge Base Article:  Which graphics card do you need?

If you need more advice on graphics cards, options for hardware given you have an iMac, then let us know.

The iMac struggled a bit when i used the 8.5 trial.
I will be purchasing a new PC for work to run Archicad and Lumion

I would think this should work well.

Hi Peter

Yes, those sound very good.  There is not much better in the marketplace, given you are going for a GTX 1080 Ti.

CPU is fine, if you have a few extra $'s you might want to opt for the i7-8700K, but there's not much difference (slightly faster clock). SSD will be fine, unless you can specify Samsung EVO.

I would also include at least a 2+ TB harddrive, very cheap these days.

We do not recommend bronze rated power supplies.  Dell will provide Gold or better, but you will need to ensure they provide that still at 850W or above.  See our Knowledge Base Article and notes to: Which power supply do you need?

Hey Peter,

Now that V9 has been announced, i'll be buying Lumion in the next couple weeks
through our local reseller here in Australia.
Sorry to ask again, but I have revisited the computer setup based around your recommendation.
I'm now looking at a custom build (which is actually better priced than the Dell) from a local computer
dealer we use at my workplace. See Specs Below.
I think this should work well alongside Lumion, but your comment /suggestions would be great.

That's a great configuration.

The MSI motherboard has got 4 System Memory slots, so if you ever need more memory, you've got the option to buy two more 16 GB sticks.

And thanks to the massive power supply you always have the option to upgrade the GTX 1080 Ti to a GTX 20xx or 30xx further down the line.
