Hi Support

I have a client that installed the trial, the computer was struggling so its been upgraded (Ram/GFX card). He would like to test whether Lumion performs adequately with the upgrades but the trial has now expired. Is it possible to get a trial extension to confirm?

Thanks!

Hi symmetricnz

There are two Trials.  The public 7 Day Trial is of v7.5 and cannot be extended, but they can complete the form and get a new Trial license.

The other is the full featured 7 day Pro Trial of the latest version that is available via their local reseller.

Do you know which Trial they were using?

See our Knowledge Base ArticleIs there a Trial version of Lumion?

We can also have a look at the PC specifications and advise on hardware as it now stands.  Attach to a post the Windows Diagnostics (DXDiag) Report of the PC. Refer our Knowledge Base Article: How do you attach a diagnostics report to a post?

Hi

Thank you for the assistance. My guess would be that it was the public trial. I'll get him to complete the trial form again - will it generate a new license that you can use with the expired install?

Failing that I'll let him get in touch with 4Front Technologies which seem to be the local reseller for the Pro trial.

The PC is a 2nd gen core i7 with an AMD HD6770, SSD and 16GB RAM. So should be OK but also somewhat borderline.

Hi symmetricnz

It will create a new license, so the existing public 7 day Trial needs to be uninstalled first, then the new one installed.

However I have bad news.

The HD6770 has a Passmark of only 1678, and the absolute minimum Passmarks for Lumion for very simple Scenes is 2000.  Lumion will not work correctly.  We would recommend that a better graphics card be installed.

Thank you for the guidance. Shame about the card -  I'll convey the information.

OK.  Yes sorry about that, but anything below the minimum will result in issues.  We would certainly like the client to have a good experience of Lumion, so using a PC that at least meets specifications is needed.

The client is best to seek our advice and read through our guides, and also this blog to get a good idea of the hardware requirements for Lumion.

I should also point out that sometimes it is OK to upgrade existing hardware, but there can also be problems with other hardware parts such as power supplies in some PC's when new high performance graphics cards are added.

The client or yourself are welcome to ask us any questions on hardware.
