I think this ia had been asked before, but did not understand it very well, and I imagine there are still many who are unaware of this, so I'll leave. exe file (which is certainly not of my authorship, totally safe) and a reference image to download, greetings! thanks google translator :-D

If you have Lumion Pro you can already export a full scene file (.ls2) which includes all user-imported models.

If you double-click on this file on any PC with Lumion installed (It can be any version, including Lumion Free), you can walk around your scene in Theatre mode, just like in the example you posted.

Keyboard shortcuts such as F1/F2/F3/F4 and F7/F8/F9 let you adjust the visual quality.

So why do we requrie that the client has Lumion installed?

Well, a version which would include all Library materials and models in the scene in a standalone executable (.exe) file would potentially be huge, so the reason that the client needs to have Lumion installed in order to inspect an .ls2 scene is to keep the .ls2 file small and easier to transfer.

If you make an .exe with only the needed assets included what the project uses then it would be definitely smaller as if client needs to install 2.2GB lumion plus the .ls2 file with the extra assets in.

Can't the client edit the project himself with his installed Lumion (free) version? .exe file is definitely better. You don't even need an installer....but I repeat myself here like others too.

Yes, it would indeed be smaller if you only ever wanted to send your client 1 executable file. However, the vast majority of the Lumion installer consists of models/materials/sounds (Lumion 3 requires 7.3GB when installed!), so if you needed to send more projects and versions to your client you would soon reach a point where it would make more sense for him or her to install Lumion as a viewer. As we all know, the developers decided to favour the latter when they implemented the viewer functionality.

Can't the client edit the project himself with his installed Lumion (free) version?

No, you need Lumion Pro to be able to import an .ls2 file in the Lumion editor. Lumion Free can only be used to double-click on an .ls2 file which makes it start up in a viewer-only Theatre mode. No editing is possible in that mode.

Okay thanks. This is important news because I overtook a work from someone else where the client now wants the project itself but I argue that its a source file and sources (like 3dsmax files) are not sold to clients but only the resulting movies, pictures.

So its very important that end users cant just start to do their own stuff with the .ls2 files too easy.

Lumion is so easy to use that clients may get the idea to do so. ;)

Hi Michael, we have previously received requests for a password protection function for .ls2 files.

You're welcome to add a +1 to the Wish List section of the forum.

(Wrong section for the +1... this thread along with your +1 will soon drown under many, many other posts)

I guess the last time somebody requested it, he never bothered to follow my suggestion to post it in the right section, so feel free to start a new thread in the Wish List section :)

Or you could just add a note in your quotation: "If you need the source files it's 50% extra".  8)

Thanks for your time and answers, but I still think that a. exe file is better, imagine not having to say, I give the project to visualize that in your house, but first you must settle Lumion, .... ............ And he'll tell me, Lumion? IS a video player? .... io not tell you

jajajajjajajja ... occurrences to mine: D :-D

indeed, it seems more attractive the option of walking through my project, rather than fly, ofcourse if they were two options would be wonderful!

That's a shame, but you can use Quest5d for .exe files..
