Hi all, generally we update our designs on a weekly basis from Sketchup to Collada to Lumion. There does not seem to be a file linking system in place yet to link the Collada files to Lumion as they update, no problem, perhaps in a later build. If I choose the same name when I update the collada file at model import, Lumion asks me for a unique name - but I actually want to replace this old version with a new version without having to re-position the actual file. I'm sure some people would like to do the same. So...
I did find a useful work around that I wanted to share with everyone. What I have been doing is this:
1. Export your new revised object from Sketch Up as a Collada file, import new revised building into Lumion library with a new name. I attach a date to the name for clarity.
2. Exit Lumion
3. Within the Lumion\Library folder, back up the old building object files - .txx, .inn and .lib file extensions. These should have same name as old object. These are the files Lumion was originally linking.
4. Rename the three NEW object files that you just imported with the OLD original name. Lumion will load this object (thinking its the old object) which now contains your new updated information.
What this has been doing for me is letting me keep the exact same location of these object with a new revised version, which gets revised frequently. The renaming doesn't take too long, but the re-placing of object every time it changed was too time consuming.
There is probably a better way than this but I thought i would share this method. Let me know if there is a better way to link these Collada exports, thanks.
Thanks,
Vince
