Hi!
I wonder how I can use controls to switch between viewpoints in Gear VR 360 photos?
Lumion creates separate ,jpgs for me when I render out scenes with multiple viewpoints..

Hi Patrik

Separate JPGs are the required format for GearVR.  See GearVR: How to cycle through panorama viewpoints.

Please update your forum Account with your Lumion 6 license key (click here, scroll to the bottom and enter your license number).  Thanks in advance.

Once you've done that you'll get access to the full forum for Commercial Users.  That's also where the above topic is located  ;).

Hi!
I am using Lumions new panorama 360 export to Gear VR, but dont understand how i make the "eye" controls for switching between viewpoints. If I render out a scene with more than one viewpoint, Lumion creates one .jpg per view, and doesnt let me "jump" between viewpoints..
I also wonder what the best app for showing the Gear VR picture on a computer with just "one view" (instead of left+right) so that people can see whats displying in the Gear VR.. Hope you understand what I am after.. :-)
Kind regards Patrik

In regard send part of question - viewing on PC:

You can open and view the images in any image viewer that reads JPG image files, such as Windows Photos (Win 10+) or Windows Photo Viewer.  Then zoom in to increase the view full screen or above.

You don't get the head movement to look around as that's part of GearVR viewing.  Scroll the image left and right to see each of the cubic views as if looking around in the scene.

However, your best alternative would be to render also to MyLumion, and view the 360 panoramic in MyLumion, which can be viewed on PC.  This will give you similar look around as GearVR.  The main difference will be MyLumion does not support the stereoscopic format.

If you are wanting to see on the PC what someone is seeing at the same time as they use a GearVR then, apart form some streaming based systems, AFAIK, there is nothing to do that.  Maybe someone else knows of something.

Thank you, I will look into streaming systems, since seeing on the PC what the Gear VR user is experiencing  is excactly what I wanted to do!
Already use MyLumion to create the Gear VR 360 pictures :-)

Kind regards

Hi Patrik

OK.

Here's how to organise GearVR images in sequence:

1) Number the images, e.g. 01_Name.jpg, 02_Name.jpg and so on.

2) Place them in a sub-folder in the 360Photos folder on your Samsung phone.

3) Cycle through the panoramas with the touchpad on the right side of the Samsung GearVR headset.

Tip: name each of the Locations in Lumion with the prefix "01_", "02_" etc, for example "01_locationname", "02_locationname" etc.  When the images are rendered they will then be in sequence ready for GearVR.

Please note that any streaming systems are completely outside the scope of our support for GearVR and Oculus Rift.

I'm also not sure it is possible to see what the GearVR user is experiencing, as that involves feedback from the GearVR as to head movement, or the player app (Oculus 360 app for Samsung) being connected somehow to the PC to capture the Samsung screen.  Perhaps someone knows of something.

With Oculus Rift it is possible because the *.lvr file is played back directly via the Lumion player, LumionVR, which runs from the PC.  So you can see that on screen and you can see where the user is looking etc.

Hi Peter!

Thanx for answering! I have no problems swiping between the different jpgs, but I want to use the little "eye" symbol and just look at the new location to be "teleported" there, as in the Lumion tutorial, or maybe does that only work in Oculus Rift?

Are viewpoints the only way to use Lumion in a VR mode, or does Oculus Rift provide the possibillity to navigate through the Lumion model? (I currently only have access to Gear VR)

/Patrik

Hi Patrik

The Locations (little "eye" navigation symbol) are only available in the LumionVR player for Oculus Rift.

GearVR only provides for single panoramic images via the Oculus 360 image viewer.  So each Location (viewpoint) has to be a separate image for GearVR.

The LumionVR option provided for Oculus Rift is the one with panoramic images with Locations.  It is not possible to use Oculus Rift to navigate directly in the Lumion Scene (as if viewing the scene in Lumion Viewer Mode on a PC screen).
