Sun moves backwards in video sun study?

Hello there,

I am trying to make a clip in my video that shows the sun setting then comes up as a sun rise.  But when I add the sun setting keyframe at the start of the clip, then the sun rising setting in a keyframe at the end of the clip, it moves the sun backwards from west to east?  I am pretty sure I have all my model in the correct place as I've brought in a lot of Google Earth terrain from sketchup.

Any ideas?  I've set my location to California too.

Thanks,
Lorne

It's just the way the keyframes get interpreted between each other for the suns position.  It's not possible for it to determine direction from two keyframes.

So just add one or more in-between keyframes that control the direction of the day; for example hours as

key 1 start: 17
key 2:  21
key 3: 24 (or 23 and minutes to 59)
key 4: 8

key 2 is not really needed

(I have added this problem (sunset to sunrise) to the Error Tracker, so the developers can have a look - believe it or not, but you're the first person to use it like that, Lorne - everyone else is rendering sunrise to sunset clips)

Thanks for the replies.

First thing I did was add more keyframes and added one right before sunrise and it still went backwards.  So I ended up removing this portion of my video as I couldn't find a solution.

Thanks for the suggestions and quick reply.

I took another look and first try was not working as first thought.

I came up with 3 options.  The keys need to be more defined, however, some post-editing in a video editor to remove some frames is required.

Option 1: is done within 1 clip, but some middle frames need removing in an editor
Option 2: is done with 2 clips and much easier to set up and work with
Option 3: the quick and easy work-around: just uses 1 clip in basic sun timing ie start with 0000 hours through to 2400 hours and then just cut and swap in a video editor

Attached is an LS4 showing the clips and keyframes.

unable to attach 7z, zip or LS4 files at moment, will have to try again once Arthur sorts out  :'(

 :) done see attached 7z

Hi Peter, those file types should now work again...
